2. Exposition The play takes place in Chicago, Illinois and in New York City. The protagonist in the play in Wynne he is a boy who is very bright, and very into computer games. His father’s name is Clifford who may have some mental disabilities, and then there is his mother Linda. His sister’s name is Shaylee, but she is a drug addict who doesn’t live home anymore, and comes around once in a while.
3. Inciting Incident The inciting incident would be when Wynne gets the opportunity to go to New York and compete in a life threatening competition, and leaves his family behind.
4. Conflict The conflict would be that Wynne, protagonist, want to do so much more for his family then he possibly could. He is participating in a real life video game challenge that he was given the opportunity to do, and with winning that he would gain a lot of money. He wants to pay for his father to get an operation that the family simply could not afford, pay for the mortgage, and help his sister Shaylee get back on her feet. He is also facing the real world, and growing up and putting his life on the line for his family by doing the real life challenge
5. Rising Action Wynne is getting prepared for the fight because he wants to win, and get all of the money so he can help his family. He believes that his sister wants to be healthy again but if he won the money that it would make everything better.
6. Climax Wynne won the competition which means that he won the money he needs to help his family. Him and his family back home are thinking how everything will be better.
7. Falling Action and Denouement Wynne is in the hospital after the challenge. The family is talking about such great times that they had. Shaylee and Wynne are catching up, now that he has won the money everything will be solved, and Shaylee will be clean of drugs.
8. Themes Discussed in Stone Cold Dead Serious Many things talked about in this play had to deal with drugs, sexuality, growing up, and family. Wynne’s sister Shaylee was a drug addict. You also got to see Wynne stepping out of his home and going to New York City to experience, love and sexuality. There were sexual scenes in this play where you got to see Wynne doing whatever he can to help his family. No matter what the situation is a human being can do whatever they want is they set their mind to it and believe in there self. He worked hard and he was able to achieve his goals.
