3. Taco Bell – Failure in Poland
• The first Polish Taco Bell store was opened in 1993.
• Following an aggressive campaign of expansion, Taco Bell's efforts soon
withered, and the chain withdrew from Poland shortly thereafter.
• “Apparently the Mexican flavors have limited appeal to the Polish palate”
• In Poland, there are a few Mexican-style restaurants but not on the mass scale
of fast food outlets.
• Taco Bell didn't sell enough Tacos in Poland, as the poles did not accept the
flavor much.
• Also the ‘No Customization’ strategy, hindered their establishment in Poland.
• Cultural acceptance of the food like Pierogi RUSKIE (Boiled pasta filled with
cheese, onion and potatoes – half moon shaped), Rosół (Chicken soup with
Polish noodles), Gołąbki (Cooked minced meat and rice wrapped in cabbage
leaves).
