7. A legislation that a councillor must follow is the equality
act because all patients from diverse ranges must be
treated equally with the correct respect. This means
anyone disabled, a different gender or race must be
respected and must be provided with reliable and safe
advice especially when their lifestyle is in jeopardy. A
councillor must not bully or harass a patient especially if
they are providing the professional with private
confidential information as they will feel frightened and
intimidated enabling them to not trust the professional
and they won’t be able to show their feelings and
emotions as they feel harmed or uncomfortable. The
councillor will follow this act by listening attentively to
the patient and by giving them the correct respect that
they deserve. They will stop abuse which may occur by
showing any concerns to their families or other
professionals and will help them get through their
negative past. This means these patients will be
safeguarded especially if seen as vulnerable and all
discrimination that may have occurred between
professional and patient will be stopped.
