a. Maureen Patton
i. On March 1st
, a facility fee for events (depending on events) will
be put in place. It will be for conferences and events that have a lot
of outside people (guests, non-KSU students, etc.) such as the
KAB fashion show. The facility fee goes towards things such as
tables and podiums that cost hundreds to thousands of dollars. This
is for really big events. Any events, whether faculty, staff or
external; if there is a fee towards the student center for an event
there; the money will stay in the student center. She is in charge of
the events department on both campuses. From the fees collected
from external events, she will be able to give about $50,000 to the
student center on the Marietta campus. Our events still go through
student life and they determine if there is a cost involved or not.
ii. If there is an event already booked in there and there is a
conference that wants to come in that will make the university
some money; the university will NOT bump the non-paying party.
b. Chris Bruno
i. “I haven’t been this excited to make speech like this since I made
the eulogy at my grandmother’s funeral.” –Chris Bruno, Director
of Housing Operations with KSU Housing
ii. We have a total of 5,202 beds on both campuses.
1. Kennesaw campus has 3,494 beds (2,347 North) (1,147
South)
2. Marietta Campus has 1,708 beds (983 East) (725 West)
iii. Allocation decisions based on enrollment projections and historical
data. They try to cluster classes of students together to promote
student success
iv. First year enrollment
c. KSU Place
i. Fir the last 4 years, it has slowly been transitioning to First Year
Housing. There are 11 buildings, 6 that are first-year and 5 that are
upper class. 5 upper class buildings have 243 students (10,35% of
North Campus). They decided to make these for first years as well.
ii.
iii.
d. Questions
i. Senator Uzokwe- you see a big number of first year students
coming in each year. Will this stop on north side of campus or will
you all continue to dip into south housing?
1. Bruno- there are no plans to do that to South campus. They
plan to keep it upper class for the time being.
ii. Senator Walley- how does this affect themed housing?
1. Bruno- they met this morning about themed housing. There
will be no effects in regards to honors students. They spoke
about increasing the Stonewall community but none of the
other ones on south campus.
iii. VP Of Arc council- out of all the beds in ARC, there are about 800
for upper classmen. Where do you expect us to go?
1. There are roughly 200 athletic beds out of … There are 800
beds after themed housing is done.
2. You can go anywhere that will fit your housing and
financial needs
iv. Quin- Marietta campus, are there similar plans over at that
campus? Because they are putting students with the same interest
together…
1. Bruno- Out of first time freshmen enrollment numbers, the
Marietta campus has a first year live on requirement. If
they are a first year student, they already have rooms
allocated to them. Marietta campus does not have the same
growth as the Kennesaw campus
v. President of KPA- there is a petition towards KSU housing. They
want to know why there is an increase in rent for students without
notice. Is the data available? If there are hard numbers then upper
classmen may understand.
1. Bruno- What students don’t see is the increase in operating
cost. The cost for cable, TV, Internet, repairs, etc. is being
changed all the time. It is not their option, they have keep
up with the numbers. They gave students proper notice
within the normal housing time line. They notified
everyone when everything was approved. It’s not public
information… but maybe, yes? He would like to meet after
this.
2. Guest- There is a 10-year plan for housing?
a. Bruno- We are in an exploratory phase looking
where we can build and what we want to build.
They are looking at how it will cost, how it will
look, etc.
3. Jennifer Mcknotten- author of the Odyssey article. When
was this decision set in stone? Why was there an untimely
notification to students?
a. It happened in January. As said, they let it out in the
timely manner that they usually would and are
required to.
4. Terrance Burruss- change.com- he did some research and
went back to 2012 when the merge was an idea/plan. When
they built the new rec center they spent $39 mil on Rec $22
mil on education, $18 mil on the spic span connector; when
they knew the Football team was coming, why wasn’t
housing considered in this plan? Was housing a topic of
discussion?
a. In all honesty, he does not know the answer to this
at the time. He was not a part of the decision. The
money spent on everything is from the university;
money for housing comes from their pockets and
from trustees.
5. Mariah Maiden- how do you expect students who are in a
financial bind to pay $200 more for a campus apartment.
How can you expect someone to make a decision as heavy
as this in less than a month?
a. He does not know her financial situation; there are
other opportunities in Marietta and other places to
live comfortably. On campus is not your only
option. We have BOB that transfers students
between housing and campus.
6. Matt Brown- if ARC is the only option for upper classmen,
there are over 800 beds… Many places with registration
have it up.
a. Off campus housing resources will be brought to
campus to help students look for other places.
7. KP resident- why are you all doing this? They’ve been
paying customers for X amount of years and now it’s like
their being thrown out of their houses just because. They
say their going to ARC. The people that live there are
already having their own problems including parking.
a. We do not take that lightly. We are here tonight to
help. He’d love to talk with you after and see what
we can do.
8. Bridgett Neeson (KSU Council)- it’s turning into a 2-
payment installments at ARC while KP had a month-by-
month payment. Part of living here is to mimic real life in
making monthly payments.
a. ARC 2 has always functioned as 2 installments
from when it was built. ARC 1 is still paid monthly.
If you live in ARC 2 or Marietta, you can work on
payment plans.
9. Terrance Burruss- campus involvement, was that
considered in housing? A lot of freshmen will be on
campus. When you decide to make it all freshmen, a lot of
upper classmen involved on campus that are forced to
move off of campus may be less inclined to remain
involved? How much was campus involvement looked
into?
a. Campus involvement was over looked; it wasn’t
really brought up when talking.
10. Chris Bruno will be outside after the meeting and is taking
contact information for additional questions.
5. Officer Reports
a. Secretary Prater- there is a sheet taped up in the senate office for you to
write down any office supplies that you think we will need. We cannot
guarantee you that you will get the supplies, but we will look into it.
b. Treasurer Goodson- stipends will be coming out next week
c. Director Brock- This week she had a meeting with Dr. Sanseviro. Meet the
Presidents is next week on the 23rd from 11 AM to 1 PM in the Student
Center Rotunda. Dr. Papp will be there at the beginning. Just as a reminder
this event is required. Her committee and herself are continuing to meet
with student organizations and Greek life. A few email blasts have been
sent out to these organizations asking for any concerns on campus.
d. Director Fernandez- see recording at bottom
e. Director Kramschuster- Director Kramschuster is currently working on
Elections. Campaigning began on Monday, Feb. 15th. Please be sure to
abide by the Elections Bylaws and what was said at the Mandatory
Candidate Meeting. The Debates are going to be next week on Feb.24th in
SS1021 and voting will begin the next day at12:00am. She attended the
Faculty Library Senate Committee on February 5th. The library
renovations are almost done and look great! The side entrance is no longer
going to be there and the only entrance is going to be the one on the
ground floor. Director Kramschuster attended the Global Learning Fee
Committee today at 1:00pm. If you have any questions please email her.
f. Director Vadlamudi- see recording at bottom
g. AVP Roberts- see recording at bottom.
h. VP Delaney- Vice President is continuing to receive updates from his
Strategic Thinking and Planning sub-committee. They have written a
Mission and Vision for our KSU, in regards to his sub-committee goals. If
anyone would like to see that Mission and Vision, see Vice President
Delaney. Vice President Delaney will be attending the Faculty Senate
meeting next Monday and report back with any updates. Vice President
Delaney is continuing to have Senator 1:1 meetings. So far they are going
well. Vice President Delaney wanted to remind everyone that if they are
meeting with him or Danica, that they need to have their presentation
ready to go over soon for the SGA Gala. Vice President Delaney will start
planning with the Advisors for SGA to create next administrations retreat.
The money for this retreat will come out of this administrations money,
but be saved for the next administration, sot that they do not have to spend
money or worry about planning a retreat quickly. GCLC is right around
the corner, and Vice President Delaney wanted to remind everyone who is
going to arrive in Athens and be checked in by 9am in the UGA Student
Center. This is when the conference will start. Please wear your SGA
polos and name tags if you have them. If anyone is riding in the KSU
vehicle, please plan to leave the campus early in the morning, so that you
may all arrive on time in Athens.
i. President Roberson- President Roberson is going to the Student Advisory
Council (SAC) Retreat with other SGA presidents in the USG up at the
University of North Georgia, Dahlonega. He will be
gone tomorrow and Friday. If there is anything that you would like for him
to pick the brains of the other SGA presidents, just let him know.
He met with the new head of Student Development, Matthew
Robison, earlier this week. They talked about his past experiences here at
KSU and how he is transitioning into his new role. One of the things that
they talked about is how Student Involvement and Student Development
can better work together. He is interested in what your opinion on how
these two departments can more closely work together.
He is meeting with Dr. KC White, our Vice President of Student
Affairs next Friday. If you have any concerns that you would like for him
to discuss with her, please let him know. He plans on meeting with her
about Carmichael Student Center renovations, Wilson Student Center
Theater renovations,
SGA has some money left in the budget for the year. Exec Board
met on Monday and came up with a way to distribute our left over funding
and we want your input. He propose that with our end of the year funds
which Treasurer Goodson says we should have roughly $39-$40,000
after stipends, that we divide the money in three categories:
operational costs of SGA; 2016-17 SGA Administration Retreat; and
the rest would be split between the Carmichael and Wilson Student
Centers.
As a major organization on campus, there are certain things that we
need and want to help make our organization function more effectively.
These are things such as office supplies and promo items. If you have any
suggestions for any of these, please email him with your list. Treasurer
Goodson will help to make more final decisions on what we actually
because he has more knowledge about the budget.
It has been sort of a tradition that the SGA administration before the next
pays for their summer retreat. He would like to see this tradition
continued. This way, the next administration has more money to spend on
the students of the fall and Spring Semesters next year.
Lastly, the student centers on both campuses are in much need of
repair. As an administration that has been leading the conversation on how
to better accommodate student needs in the student centers, he thinks that
we should give money to, at the minimum, paint and repair the cubicles, as
well as, the game room on the Marietta campus. He will continue work to
get funding for a complete cubicles renovation on the once he is no longer
President, but he thinks it is safe to say that no major renovations will be
done this year.
Last week he conducted a mini-needs assessment forum for the
GLBTIQ students. Last year, SGA signed a resolution that we would
advocate for a renovation of the resource center as well. He will pass
everything he has regarding this to the next president and will continue to
advocate for those students outside of my president's role as well.
i. President Roberson- we are voting on spending money on
operational stuff, SGA retreat next year and the rest to split
between the KSU Care Center and Marietta Student Center.
1. Motion to move end of the year funding to allocate to use
for SGA operational stuff, SGA’s retreat next year and the
Student Center and KSU care center.
a. Second by Senator Behrend
2. Discussion- Senator Glickman wants to donate some to
KSU TED X. Senator Walley wants to know if this will be
evenly distributed.
a. President Roberson- he is not sure what the dollar
amount is but we will double check to see that all
money we give will have an actual dollar amount.
We are not sure yet what the parameters are for us
to donate to the KSU Care Center using student
fees.
3. Senator Behrend- can we discuss later specific amounts?
a. Roberson- this is our final meeting but we will have
this conversation in the next week or so, so if you
are interested in end of the year financial decisions,
contact Danica. We will let you know of any
decisions we make.
4. Senator Perez-Ramirez- with this being our last meeting of
the year but not the fiscal year. Will money be split
between administrations in the new fiscal year (July)?
a. Roberson-

a. Intern Reports
i. Senator Bodony- Senator Normil, Senator Behrend and himself
were tasked with objectives to fix something at KSU. Disc Golf is
being taken by athletics from SGA but will keep SGA’s name on it
as well as budget it their self.
b. Senator Perez Ramirez- would like to donate to Compass Service Trips
without budget. It is weeks where they take 6-9 students go on 2 trips. One
will work with Habitat for Humanity in NC and the other will work with
Give Kids a World that works with the Make a Wish foundation and
amusement parks in Orlando. The current cost is $250/student to go on
this trip. He proposes that we make a donation to the organization of
$1000. This would help make a scholarship for 4 students.
i. Treasurer Goodson- the budget accepts that
ii. Advisor Lunk- SGA has a budget and we have a realm of ability to
do with what we want. Please understand that we cannot just
donate money to organizations and students. We will actually have
to exchange a good or a service, i.e. there must be some sort of
invoice created. We can give money towards transportation or
something to off set the cost to everyone. The organization itself
can control what we do with that.
c. Senator Perez Ramirez- moves to donate $1000 towards transportation for
Compass Service Trips
i. Second by Senator Behrend
ii. Discussion:
1. Senator Maginnis- is this strictly volunteering?
a. Yes
2. Senator Normil- what is covered by the $250?
a. Transportation, food, lodging, additional site fees.
This will reduce the cost for all students.
iii. Senator Walley- is there any way to specify that this is from SGA?
1. Jordan Clark- when they are billed, she will be sure they
know it’s from SGA
iv. Director Fernandez- what if other organizations ask for funds, can
SGA give to any of them?
1. Compass is a program not an organization
v. Director Brock- has the organization done any funding for the trip
as well
1. The students pay for it themselves. There are students who
want to make a difference in the lives of other people but
are not in the financial situation to do that.
vi. 1 abstention, 1 opposition, the rest approve.
1. The motion carries
d. Senator Mobolaji- he wrote a resolution for the repurposing of the 5/3rd
bank room in the student center.
i. Motion to approve the 5/3rd
bank resolution by Senator Henriquez
1. Second by Senator Bodony
2. 2 oppose, 2 abstentions, rest in favor
3. Motion carries
e. Senator Glickamn moves to make SGA a silver sponsor for TedX of
$1000
i. Senator Bodony- what’s the rational of just doing a silver level
sponsorship?
ii. Senator Powell-Harris- is the application to speak closed?
1. Glickman- he believes so but he will get back to you
iii. President Roberson- they can certainly benefit from all of this
money
iv. Director Fernandez- how many other sponsor’s do you all
currently have? How much does this cost to put on?
1. There is currently a gold, black, and red sponsored event.
v. AVP Roberts- is this free?
1. Glickman- that has not yet been released
vi. Treasurer Goodson- point of information: he wants to give money
but does not want KSU to appear to be a charity organization
vii. Chris Bruno- the total cost is about $10,000. There are VERY
strict guidelines by TEDX of what has to be done at the
conference. We already have a red sponsor. Other sponsors are
coming in forms of other costs
viii. Ron Lunk- the next SABAC meeting is March 16th
, the deadline
for Paperwork is March 9th
in case they want to apply for it
ix. 5 in favor, 17 opposed, 4 abstentions
1. Motion fails, SGA will not be donating the $1,000
x. Senator Tomlinson- the lighting on both campuses has received
$750,000 on both campuses. They are seeking approval for more
funds from Dr. Papp. They received $100,000 to fix sidewalks.
They are also looking into repurposing smoking area s.
f. Senator Walley- the Wellstar College has a dean search this week. They
are celebrating 20 years of the honors program with alumni and current
students.
g. Senator Behrend- there is an ITAC meeting tomorrow at 10am. She is not
sure where the location is. If you have a complaint about WIFI or
something, go give them a specific spot and they will scope out the spot.
They have been looking into getting a mural on the side of the bailey arts
center. They are just in contact right now. ITAC is in Clendinin 1009
h. Senator Powell-Harris- thank you everyone who helped with Owl
Memorial. Thank you Advisor Lunk for filling in for Dr. Sanseviro. Men’s
and Women’s basketball just wrapped up this weekend. Track will be
competing soon in a conference.
i. Senator Roche- the Wellstar College is very separated. She finally hosted
a 2-day event in the indoor plaza. They are going to create a student
advisory board and have a Wellstar Service Day.
j. Senator Garguilo- she contacted ABLE and met with them and their clubs.
She also met with the Academy of Inclusive Learning for those desire a
certificate instead of a degree. There are current concerns of some people
in the office who are not providing the proper help. Students in the ABLE
club were contacted by SDS who wants to take it over. ABLE is a student
led club and we do not want that taken from them. When she spoke to the
Academy, some students she met with said that there are a lot of extra
fees, steps and processes to go with this.
9. Announcements
a. Senator Perez-Ramirez- Invitational will be February 27th
on the Marietta
campus. Come check out motor sports. Their college won 3 awards. Dean
won GA engineering Professor of the year.
b. Director Fernandez- The college republicans will be hosting on February
23rd
, Gov John Kasich
c. Treasurer Goodson- Jenny Jang will be hosting startup and student
connection on April 4th
from 6pm-8pm in the Atlanta Tech Village.
d. Director Kramschuster- remember to sign in and to be at next week’s
campaign debate
e. Director Brock- our Town hall will be next Thursday, February 25th
from
3:30pm-5: 30pm.
f. President Roberson- this is KAB’s week of Hot Lovin’. If you are
interested in volunteering for the National collegiate Sales Competition,
contact him.
10. Adjournment
a. Motion to adjourn by Senator Mobolaji
i. Second by Senator Roche
ii. All in favor, motion carries

We have a total of 5,202 beds on both campuses. 1. Kennesaw campus has 3,494 beds (2,347 North) (1,147 South) 2. Marietta Campus has 1,708 beds (983 East) (725 West)
  • 3. iii. Allocation decisions based on enrollment projections and historical data. They try to cluster classes of students together to promote student success iv. First year enrollment
  • 4. c. KSU Place i. Fir the last 4 years, it has slowly been transitioning to First Year Housing. There are 11 buildings, 6 that are first-year and 5 that are upper class. 5 upper class buildings have 243 students (10,35% of North Campus). They decided to make these for first years as well. ii.
  • 5. iii. d. Questions i. Senator Uzokwe- you see a big number of first year students coming in each year. Will this stop on north side of campus or will you all continue to dip into south housing? 1. Bruno- there are no plans to do that to South campus. They plan to keep it upper class for the time being. ii. Senator Walley- how does this affect themed housing? 1. Bruno- they met this morning about themed housing. There will be no effects in regards to honors students. They spoke about increasing the Stonewall community but none of the other ones on south campus. iii. VP Of Arc council- out of all the beds in ARC, there are about 800 for upper classmen. Where do you expect us to go? 1. There are roughly 200 athletic beds out of … There are 800 beds after themed housing is done. 2. You can go anywhere that will fit your housing and financial needs iv. Quin- Marietta campus, are there similar plans over at that campus? Because they are putting students with the same interest together…
  • 6. 1. Bruno- Out of first time freshmen enrollment numbers, the Marietta campus has a first year live on requirement. If they are a first year student, they already have rooms allocated to them. Marietta campus does not have the same growth as the Kennesaw campus v. President of KPA- there is a petition towards KSU housing. They want to know why there is an increase in rent for students without notice. Is the data available? If there are hard numbers then upper classmen may understand. 1. Bruno- What students don’t see is the increase in operating cost. The cost for cable, TV, Internet, repairs, etc. is being changed all the time. It is not their option, they have keep up with the numbers. They gave students proper notice within the normal housing time line. They notified everyone when everything was approved. It’s not public information… but maybe, yes? He would like to meet after this. 2. Guest- There is a 10-year plan for housing? a. Bruno- We are in an exploratory phase looking where we can build and what we want to build. They are looking at how it will cost, how it will look, etc. 3. Jennifer Mcknotten- author of the Odyssey article. When was this decision set in stone? Why was there an untimely notification to students? a. It happened in January. As said, they let it out in the timely manner that they usually would and are required to. 4. Terrance Burruss- change.com- he did some research and went back to 2012 when the merge was an idea/plan. When they built the new rec center they spent $39 mil on Rec $22
  • 7. mil on education, $18 mil on the spic span connector; when they knew the Football team was coming, why wasn’t housing considered in this plan? Was housing a topic of discussion? a. In all honesty, he does not know the answer to this at the time. He was not a part of the decision. The money spent on everything is from the university; money for housing comes from their pockets and from trustees. 5. Mariah Maiden- how do you expect students who are in a financial bind to pay $200 more for a campus apartment. How can you expect someone to make a decision as heavy as this in less than a month? a. He does not know her financial situation; there are other opportunities in Marietta and other places to live comfortably. On campus is not your only option. We have BOB that transfers students between housing and campus. 6. Matt Brown- if ARC is the only option for upper classmen, there are over 800 beds… Many places with registration have it up. a. Off campus housing resources will be brought to campus to help students look for other places. 7. KP resident- why are you all doing this? They’ve been paying customers for X amount of years and now it’s like their being thrown out of their houses just because. They say their going to ARC. The people that live there are already having their own problems including parking. a. We do not take that lightly. We are here tonight to help. He’d love to talk with you after and see what we can do.
  • 8. 8. Bridgett Neeson (KSU Council)- it’s turning into a 2- payment installments at ARC while KP had a month-by- month payment. Part of living here is to mimic real life in making monthly payments. a. ARC 2 has always functioned as 2 installments from when it was built. ARC 1 is still paid monthly. If you live in ARC 2 or Marietta, you can work on payment plans. 9. Terrance Burruss- campus involvement, was that considered in housing? A lot of freshmen will be on campus. When you decide to make it all freshmen, a lot of upper classmen involved on campus that are forced to move off of campus may be less inclined to remain involved? How much was campus involvement looked into? a. Campus involvement was over looked; it wasn’t really brought up when talking. 10. Chris Bruno will be outside after the meeting and is taking contact information for additional questions. 5. Officer Reports a. Secretary Prater- there is a sheet taped up in the senate office for you to write down any office supplies that you think we will need. We cannot guarantee you that you will get the supplies, but we will look into it. b. Treasurer Goodson- stipends will be coming out next week c. Director Brock- This week she had a meeting with Dr. Sanseviro. Meet the Presidents is next week on the 23rd from 11 AM to 1 PM in the Student Center Rotunda. Dr. Papp will be there at the beginning. Vice President Delaney will start planning with the Advisors for SGA to create next administrations retreat. President Roberson- President Roberson is going to the Student Advisory Council (SAC) Retreat with other SGA presidents in the USG up at the University of North Georgia, Dahlonega. He met with the new head of Student Development, Matthew Robison, earlier this week. They talked about his past experiences here at KSU and how he is transitioning into his new role. One of the things that they talked about is how Student Involvement and Student Development can better work together. He is interested in what your opinion on how these two departments can more closely work together. He is meeting with Dr. KC White, our Vice President of Student Affairs next Friday. If you have any concerns that you would like for him to discuss with her, please let him know. He plans on meeting with her about Carmichael Student Center renovations, Wilson Student Center Theater renovations, SGA has some money left in the budget for the year. Exec Board met on Monday and came up with a way to distribute our left over funding and we want your input. He propose that with our end of the year funds which Treasurer Goodson says we should have roughly $39-$40,000 after stipends, that we divide the money in three categories: operational costs of SGA; 2016-17 SGA Administration Retreat; and the rest would be split between the Carmichael and Wilson Student Centers. As a major organization on campus, there are certain things that we need and want to help make our organization function more effectively. These are things such as office supplies and promo items. If you have any suggestions for any of these, please email him with your list. Treasurer
  • 11. Goodson will help to make more final decisions on what we actually because he has more knowledge about the budget. It has been sort of a tradition that the SGA administration before the next pays for their summer retreat. He would like to see this tradition continued. This way, the next administration has more money to spend on the students of the fall and Spring Semesters next year. Lastly, the student centers on both campuses are in much need of repair. As an administration that has been leading the conversation on how to better accommodate student needs in the student centers, he thinks that we should give money to, at the minimum, paint and repair the cubicles, as well as, the game room on the Marietta campus. He will continue work to get funding for a complete cubicles renovation on the once he is no longer President, but he thinks it is safe to say that no major renovations will be done this year. Last week he conducted a mini-needs assessment forum for the GLBTIQ students. Last year, SGA signed a resolution that we would advocate for a renovation of the resource center as well. He will pass everything he has regarding this to the next president and will continue to advocate for those students outside of my president's role as well. i. President Roberson- we are voting on spending money on operational stuff, SGA retreat next year and the rest to split between the KSU Care Center and Marietta Student Center. 1. Senator Behrend- can we discuss later specific amounts? a.
