According to the Verizon Threat Report, fifty-eight percent of medical data breaches are
linked to hospital staff or insiders. Healthcare is the only critical infrastructure sector in
the United States that is more likely to be internally compromised than externally. This
talk will delve deeper into this topic to isolate why this is so and offer some simple
solutions to lower that risk.

security questionnaires a year in the United States, European and Asian markets. Over
the course of the last few years Siemens has established multidisciplinary teams to
effectively complete these questionnaire’s and return them to our customers in a timely
fashion. This presentation will cover historically how we were able to pull together a

Encryption, From Masonry to Modernity
My talk chronicled historical and modern encryption methods for a broad audience of
mostly non-technical individuals focusing on the similarities between historic traditional
encryption methods and methods used by historic secret societies to obscure and
encode their writings. The lecture ended with basic safe cyber and online practices for
a predominantly older audience.

4. Health - ISAC Radio Show, 4/15/2019

Spoke on global data privacy health legislation.
The interview primarily focused on GDPR and how it is effecting hospitals within the
European Union and medical device manufacturers that do business there. We
discussed how GDPR has been interpreted and enforced differently throughout the
various EU countries and how to be compliant with what is sometimes contradictory
interpretations of legislation. We concluded by discussing other proposed and newly
enacted international data privacy legislation and how it could affect the healthcare
community.

Spoke on education and cybersecurity in the healthcare sector.
We spoke on a wide variety of topics around the central theme of how to deliver
effective cybersecurity training to a primarily non-technical, clinical medical staff.
Examples I’ve incorporated into the graduate courses I teach in cybersecurity and
resiliency in healthcare and cybersecurity and healthcare policy at Salve Regina
University were discussed.
