not generally sting. Will
swarm when the hive
fills up.
Forage most in the
morning, less at night.
Seek shade in hot
weather. Roosters:
males will often not
coexist well. Hens: will
lay rapidly in first year
(Bane pg 270).
4. WHICH IS THE
BETTER FIT?
Chickens! I’d love to keep bees as they are such a
fascinating species, and because I love honey, but I fear I
may not have adequate space for them. However, there is an
old chicken coop – unused for nearly a decade now but still
sturdy – in my neighbor’s yard. Maybe I could pay them coop
rent in the form of eggs.
