Carrying out daily physical therapy at home is a discouraging activity and does not
involve correct exercise techniques.
The physical therapy market does not cater to the home setting.
Osteoarthritis affects the function or structure of the affected tissues in between joints
that increasingly deteriorate over time due to normal bodily wear or lifestyle choices.
Osteoarthritis affects nearly 27 million Americans. That total grows higher with age
and is predicted to increase in the Baby Boomer generation.

6. Concept Ideation
Motivation Awareness Availability
Concepts that give the patient motivation by providing
them with therapy specific equipment, reward systems,
and/or immediate feedback.
The chosen concept is a stool that can be used to conduct
exercises, blends in to its environment, and holds a
purpose to its user.
Concepts that provide exercise technique awareness to
the user in the form of barriers, diagrams/guides, and/or
feedback.
The chosen concept utilizes an awareness factor of
creating barriers for the user to conduct an exercise within
which limits movement and assures correct technique.
These concpets provide the
benefits of large exercise
equipment in a condensed
form, making them availabile
for users at home.

14. Whats the Problem?
Cables are wires that carry electric signals from one audio component to another. e.g.
from guitar to amp. Many are needed for a 4 piece band.
cluttered cables
The guitar gear market does not promote wireless technology
to the average player, though it is widely used by professionals.
Playing guitar involves a lot of equipment that can be unorganized in and out of use
and its transportation is a hassle.
Unorganized Gear
Equipment like pedal boards and guitar stands are products that offer a crude
attempt to organize guitar gear on the market. they also typically add to required
parts and clutter.
15. Gathering Insights
key user findings: key organizational findings:
- Equipment gets placed wherever it can fit
- cluttered with accessories
- Guitars not in cases
- Black & chrome equipment
- Attempted organization methods need
improvement (shelving, containers, boxes,
pedal boards, stands)
- Extensive setup time
- scattered mess of cables from
3 guitars
- Amps and guitar cases stacked and piled,
cases become useless
- Hassle of transport leads to more
equipment and clutter being left behind
- Tradition & Culture - Bonding experience
"Take pedalboard and disconnect every pedal/
power supply, annoying! otherwise all
pedals lose their power."
"I leave my cords and interface on the
ground near my amp and they get super
tangled."
"Worst part is trying to sort and keep track of
cables."

22. The Case
The top half removes and rests in the bottom to become a
guitar display. The case features a hinge & clasp mechanism.
The pedals utilize a 5 pin
connection method (2 for
power and 3 for sound
transfer) This eliminates the
need for input & output jacks
and patch cables. The board
has its own battery source
and can hold up to 10 pedals.
The pedals use traditional
foot stomp buttons.
The Pedal system
23. Pedal storageThe AMp
The pedal board slides into
the amp's cavity for storage
and transport. This allows
the user to carry all their
equipment in one trip.
Tracks are located on the
inside of the amp and pegs
are on the pedal board to
guide the board into place.
The wide, shallow knobs allow
for 1 finger to easily adjust
settings. The recessed handle
allows the amp to become a
comfortable seating surface.
The angled bottom allows to
user to tilt the amp back to
project the sound upward
towards the player.
24. The Setup
The guitar case creates an epicenter for equipment and
provides organization.
1. The case becomes a display/hanger to show off the guitar.
2. The amp lies in the spot next to the guitar.
3. The pedal board lies beside the case because it is moved
and used during play.
Rock Wirelessly
1. A guitar with a built-in bluetooth transmitter transmits sound
waves to the pedal board's reviever.
2. The pedal board recieves the transmittion and alters the
sound via the effects pedals. It then transmits the waves to
the amp's reciever.
3. The amp recieves the radio waves and amplifies the sound.

27. Whats the Problem?
Clean water is not easily accessable while camping or hiking.
Light and water are two elements that can be merged to create a breakthrough
product for the Coleman brand. Water and a diffused plastic container with an
ultraviolet light creates ambient lighting and bacteria killing purification.
clean Water
Coleman Company, Inc. specializes in outdoor recreation products, especially
camping gear. It was founded by William Coffin Coleman, who began selling gasoline
pressure lamps in 1900. Coleman is currently owned by Jarden Corporation.
fading brand
With shifts between ownership, Coleman lost contact with their brand and began
making lower quality products that lack brand language and heritage.

A steam shower is a type of bathing where a humidifying steam generator produces
water vapor that is dispersed around a person’s body. Steam showers offer
health benefits and often include aromatherapy features. Unit prices range from
$2,000-$4,000. The size and price of a shower enclosure with the steam generator
installation prevents them from becoming a common home product.

A college apartment living room is small and can be cluttered with
other furniture. This includes a couch, chairs, lamps, coffee table, TV, and other
organizational furniture. My piece of furniture needs to optimize the space available
and potentially hold multiple uses.
small space
The users are young adults/college students ages 18-30. They work long nights with
lots of supplies including a laptop, books, papers, and food.
Need a comfortable place to work in their living room.
late nights
The amount of materials involved in late night working and studying in a non-school
setting makes for a cluttered and frustrating environment.
42. Concept Ideation
Concepts focus around ideas that utilize vertical space with a slim form, give
an option to bring the surface closer to your lap, and/or utilize space by adding
more shelving.
44. Concept Refinement The option to bring a surface closer to your lap would be most
effective for my user.
