PLANTING SUMMARY
GROVE & WOODED PLANTING
Large trees at 5m centres used
to enhance the linear structure of the park
STRUCTURE TREES
Used informally to define space and act as a
contrasting element to the formal nature of
the park
FORMAL MAINTAINED HEDGES
English Yew together with Contoneaster and
Laurel Hedging define the boundaries of the
parkspace. Interspersed on a regular grid
are Beech and Hornbeam Hedge tree blocks.
ORNAMENTAL SHAPED TREES
Acer pseudoplatanus ‘Globosum’ & Carpinus
betulus, emphasise the linearity and rhythm
of the park. Trees are pruned twice a year
to maintain the ‘lollipop’ and sqaure column
shapes.
STRUCTURE SHRUB PLANTING
Lanicera nitida ‘Maygreen’ and Photinia
fraserl. The shrubs define space and planting
structure. Bamboos of Phy, pleioblastus and
Sasa provide a screen on site boundaries.
FINE TURF LAWNS
Close mown lawns form zones of proposed
interment types as well sitting and relaxing,
are interspersed with structured bands of
colour themed wildflower meadows.
