TO WHOMSOVER IT MAY CONCERN
Dear Sir,
I am pleased to write this letter to introduce Mathieu Heulot and to attest to his abilities in getting the
position you offer in your company. I know Mathieu since 2006, firstly, as an undergraduate student of
the Department of Biochemical and Food Engineering (DGBA) of the National Institute for Applied
Sciences (INSA) of Toulouse and secondly, as an engineer employed in my research team for one year in
2009. So, my contacts with him were in one hand, for my lectures in bioseparation methods and protein
purification I do at the DGBA and in another hand, as his supervisor of the research work he did in my
research team at the LISBP.
As an undergraduate student, Mathieu was a highly capable student, with outstanding intellectual skills
and hard worker, ranking in the first half of his group of students. As a research engineer in my team,
Mathieu also was a highly motivated researcher who is very resourceful both as an individual researcher
and as a group worker. He has a very mind, with a friendly and pleasant personality. He is able to get
quickly and efficiently integrated in a group without raising any human problem. Moreover, Mathieu
communicates easily and gladly at a very good level in English. Several people of my team come from
foreign countries and we usually speak and write in English.
Regarding his scientific experience, his project involved the identification and the molecular
characterization of genes encoding keys enzymes of the primary metabolism of an anaerobic bacteria
Clostridium acetobutylicum. Moreover, to characterize the physiological role of the identified enzymes,
deletion mutants were constructed. To get objectives, Mathieu used and now is familiar with many
molecular biology techniques (PCR, cloning, DNA preparation, sequence analysis, deletion mutants) and
biochemical techniques (protein purification (using AKTA-purifier under anaerobic chamber) , enzymatic
assays, Westerns, product fermentation evaluation etc). Mathieu was organised in the lab and worked
conscientiously on his project. He was highly motivated by his own work and came up with ideas and
directions for the work. The work done by Mathieu should be published in an international scientific
journal by the end of the year. So, his research experience and abilities fits perfectly with the position you
look for.
Therefore, I strongly recommend him for the position in your company. I am sure that he will give the
best for the company and will do an excellent career.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if I can be of further assistance.
Yours sincerely,
Dr. Isabelle Meynial-Salles
