2. Cavities of the eyeball
divided into two large cavities:-
separated by the lens
1- The anterior cavity:
containing two chambers
anterior chamber extends from the
iris to the cornea
The posterior chamber extending
from the lens to the iris
The two chambers are continuous
through the pupil
the anterior cavity contains the
aqueous humor,produced by ciliary
bodies in the posterior chamber
The aqueous humor will give the
nutritive supply to the avascular
cornea and lens
pupil
3. 2- The posterior cavity:
contains the vitreous body (vitreous
humor):gel-like material ,not replaced unlike
the aqueous humor

4. The lens
separates ?
Vascularity ?
The lens has two unequal curvatures with the
posterior curvature more rounded than the
anterior curvature.
it’s the only structure in the human body
that continues to grow through out the life
6. Coats of the eyeball:
1) The outermost layer, Fibrous layer of the
eyeball (sclera) :
Most of the sclera is white
made of dense (tough) irregular connective
tissue that contains elastic and collagen fibers
y sensory and autonomic nerve fibers
It is the site of attachment of the muscles
involved in eyeball movement.
7. The facial sheath of the eyeball covers the
surface of the sclera externally.
from the entrance of the optic nerve to to the
junction between the white sclera and the
cornea (corneo-scleral junction)
