When our mind is on the right path, the healthy body follows. Just imagine how bad off we would be if our bodies were wasting away before our very eyes. A healthy and well-nourished body makes for a healthy fully functioning mind. I hope this thought provoking journey will lead you to make right choices in wellness.

Being a couch potato is not rest. Being motivated on the right choices will make your emotional, spiritual, and intellectual life an all-around environmental hero. Today we live in a society where staying fit is necessary. Believe me when I say this society does not tolerate a slob or a dirty atmosphere. Get up and do something! You will be amazed at how good you feel. Getting and staying physically active is one of the most important things you can do for the body. Just as most people can walk and chew gum at the same time, you must also be able to exercise and eat the appropriate foods. Without the proper diet all the exercise in the world will not help lose that fat that may be surrounding your heart.

Unfortunately, many people today are hung up in the one or the other. This can cause many problems. From those that make comments like ‘God did not mean for me to be fit’ to ‘I just can’t deal with people today’. What can the answer be? How can we sway these people into believing ‘God will not strike them down if they eat right and exercise’? The IOM Leading Health Indicator Committee for Healthy People 2020 proposes: “Promote quality of life, healthy development, and healthy behaviors across all life stages.” (Committee, O. L. H. I. F., & Institute, O. M., 2011).

These same learned individuals know that over use of alcohol can lead to many more health issues than I can list here. Are these two things that all of us know are bad for the body products of our occupation, the environment, or could the use just be all in our minds? Are we exercising our right to do to our body what we please, because it is our body? Or, are we just dumb? Are we copycats, and doing what our parents did? Is the emotion involved with being out of work causing the steady break down of our mind and body? Once we contemplate the honest answers to these very probing questions, we may just find that with a little effort we can overcome anything that is keeping us from a healthy lifestyle. Get up and move around. When you feel the need for that candy bar, grab an orange. In fact, stay out of the candy and concentrated sweet aisle when you shop. I know it may seem easy to say ‘just don’t buy the next pack of cigarettes or bottles of beer’, and it really is for me. I do not do those things that can harm my beautiful body. Once you can start to realize this is the only body you will ever get, doing good things for your mind and body will get easier. The ability to make effective healthcare decisions involves having a clear mind and a source of income. People need an education in order to know the right ways and the wrong ways to anything. Naturally, without an education there will be no employment and no income. There is no longer a welfare system.

Here in Michigan, over 9 million people were affected by the accidental poisoning of livestock in the 1970’s. We are still suffering from the remnants of that ‘accidental feeding’ of those animals grain that was mixed with PBB. The meat, eggs and other consumables were sold to non-aware Michigandians for over a year. People can enhance the immune system by getting the proper amount of rest, eating the right foods and exercising daily. People give the system a great boost by not consuming elements that are harmful.
  6. Conclusion: Being motivated by anything is a plus in life. For some people just getting out of bed may be a chore. If you have this issue, think on the life that you have led. What did you do in your life? Can you still do more? Move around! Gather your acquaintances and form a social group to discuss general topics about life, the environment or any spiritual feelings the group may have about the world today. Plan for tomorrow. Keep an open mind; this can lead to an ever-flowing intellect. One that causes that brain to overflow with mind-altering questions, that one can only find the answers to if the emotional pull is there. Questions about our society, our environment, and ourselves. As a group or as an individual, the answers are out here. Bergson stated, “The present contains nothing more than the past, and what is found in the effect was already in the cause.” (Lawlor, 2013) Perhaps brushing our teeth was just the start of something better. Perhaps our parents realized something we did not know.
