Aide Memoire – Workplace Reviews
Before you start...
 Do you have the appropriate paperwork to hand (YP completed 13 or 26 weeks?)?
 Is the environment safe and confidential?
 Do you need the supervisor to be present?
 Is the young person relaxed?
Offer a general question to open
Current Duties: If YP been in placement for some time, compare current duties with
initial ones to show progress. Work days and times.
Skills: New skills gained, In-House training, including Health & Safety, First Aid.
Qualifications: Progression? How often does YP meet with assessor? Is it regular? Do
they get support? Do they have contact details? Does YP have the facilities and time to
do this at work? Do they find the qualification relevant to the work? Are they having to
cover literacy, numeracy or ICT? If so, how is that progressing? Finally, have you a date
booked to see your assessor? Do you know when you will finish your qualification?
Support from the company: Is YP getting support? Do they feel comfortable is asking for
help? Is the organisation providing time and resources to complete your qualification?
Regular Pay: Is YP being paid regularly, yes or no? YP being paid more than minimum – a
reflection of YP’s performance?
Other work related points: Safeguarding, travelling, supply of uniform, clothing, PPE?
Non-work related concerns: Safeguarding, relationships, accommodation, etc.
Future prospects: Has YP been offered a chance with this employer to stay on post-
apprenticeship? Do they want to stay in the same discipline or swap?
Recap: Check through your notes to make sure they are accurate.
Action Points: Make sure that YP agrees with them (get then to write them!).
Review Sheet: Complete and sign
Next time: Agree date and time. Maybe needs to be on telephone?
Before you leave do you need to speak to the supervisor?
