Project: Nicotinamide Ribose as a novel treatment for peripheral
neuropathies.
Responsible for grant writing, the design and conduct of the experiments,
graphic presentation and statistical analysis of the data, preparation of
manuscripts and data presentation in lab meetings and international meetings
Responsible for supervision of undergraduate and graduate students
Techniques:
Measurement of pain behaviors in the conscious laboratory rodent
o Von Frey test filaments to measure mechanical nociception

Project: Study the role of Substance P and the neurokinin 1 receptor in the
rodent brainstem in the modulation of nociception after injury.
Responsible for the design and conduct of the experiments, graphic
presentation and statistical analysis of the data, preparation of manuscripts
and data presentation in lab meetings and international meetings
Responsible for supervision of undergraduate and graduate students
Techniques:
o Small animal surgery including stereotaxic placement of cannulae in the
brain and injection of tracers in the spinal cord.
o Measurement of pain behaviors in the conscious laboratory rodent
o Von Frey test filaments to measure mechanical nociception
o Hargreaves test for thermal nociception
o Assessment of spontaneous and evoked pain behaviors after
capsaicin injection.
