FASHION SHOWS
Marta Buzolić had her fist independent fashion show on May 2nd 2007 at one of the most
famous fashion events in Croatia and Europe - Zagreb Fashion Week. It was at the “Young
Designers” part of the event.
The fashion show was composed of ten models in black and white (non)colors sutured
from the finest materials - silk, leather and faux fur. Marta Buzolić presented her vision of
a woman to the audience, a woman who is glamorous, feminine and sexy. A woman full
of self-confidence.
Among the 24 students of the Faculty of Textile Technology Marta Buzolić stood out with
her creations which resulted in great media attention, positive professional reviews and
in the end an invitation from Suzy Josipović Redžepagić, the director of Zagreb Fashion
Week, to appear next season alongside renowned Croatian and international designers.
She didn’t miss the opportunity she got and she became a recognizable seasonal exhibitor
at this fashion event.
Along with appearing on Zagreb Fashion Week, Marta Buzolić performed at other fashion
events and was the organizer of a variety fashion events herself which were always intriguing,
covered by the media and socially noted. Showbiz stars are indispensable audience at her
shows.
Up to this point in her career Marta Buzolić has presented herself at around fifty fashion
events throughout Croatia (Zagreb, Split, Zadar, Šibenik, Vodice, Rab, Brač, Korčula...) and
at the Priština Fashion Week in Kosovo. The following are the selected fashion shows.
Designer Marta Buzolić celebrates the woman (and the man), feminine body, freedom and
courage. What connects all her collections are self-confidence, glamour, sex appeal and
exceptionally fine materials. She would treat her loyal audience with some finishing fashion
performance at each show.

Marta Buzolić presented herself with forty feminine models made of fine and shiny
materials and lace. White and black (non)colors are drawn through her collection and silver
as the link between them. The emphasis is on the simple but effective cuts in combination
with high quality materials like silk of different weaving and lace which make the collection
glamorous. The cutouts on the dresses are strategically placed so they would hint to a
female body silhouette, and in order to emphasize the figure corsets are used which she
combines with dressy slacks used as the top part of the dress. Apart from being a detail
the lace in Marta Buzolić’s collection was in a role of a shirt. For the end of the show Marta
prepared a multilayer tailored dress which is undressed using two easy moves, and in the
end the model is left in a corset with garters which the audience rewarded with a great
applause and the designer sent a message to women not to neglect what they wear
underneath their clothes.

Marta Buzolić presented herself with a feminine and glamorous collection. She added the
red color to the black and white (non)colors by which she emphasized the audacity and
the courage of a woman. She emphasized the exclusivity of wonderful dresses with the
selection of materials - fluffy silk, leather, lace and cashmere. The dresses are accented
with large-brimmed lady hats, leather belts high round the waist, short boleros, leather
gloves and bags. Transparent light blouses with balloon sleeves and a bow around the
neck complemented the high waist of long ‘A’ cut dresses and those knee long ones.
She emphasized the leather creations with back tying modeled on the corset while the
fluttering long dresses were awoken with draping and breaking the monotony with a
combination of different material samples. Traditionally at the end of the fashion show
Marta treated the audience with corsets, hot panties and garters, once again stressing
the importance of that which is unseen.

Marta Buzolić presented her glamorous collection inspired by Rock/Punk style. The
thing connecting models in this somewhat wild collection are silver and golden colors in
combination with animal print samples. Material selection - silk and leather - adds to the
elegance while the rebellion is emphasized with chains. The dresses are accented with
leather jackets and bags which are additionally emphasized with metallic details – rivets
and chains. The strictness of leather dresses was dissolved by the combination with
fluttering silk. The dress cuts celebrate the female body, and with a few designer tricks
short dresses are modified into long ones. The designer demonstrated her innovativeness
also with a gown made of chains. Marta Buzolić proved with this collection that seemingly
incompatible styles and materials can certainly work together if put into the hands of a
connoisseur. The aforementioned was confirmed by the audience who awarded Marta
Buzolić with the Best Fashion Designer Award.

Marta Buzolić presented thirty models in white, golden and the combination of those (non)
colors on June 5th 2009. Golden color as the absolute metaphor of light and the Sun which
shines and dazzles as a symbol of “higher value”, a symbol of hope and transformation,
and white color as an eternal symbol of innocence, purity and celebration along with
the queen of materials - silk - and timeless lace which symbolizes the upper-class and
female morality, which came as a result of women’s intensive labor, make these creations
glamorous and the woman irresistible. The designer chose this collection as the subject
of her graduation thesis “Gold and white in clothes design” which she defended with
great success.

Marta Buzolić presented her men’s collection for the first time alongside her women’s
collection. Now Marta Buzolić celebrates man’s body as well as woman’s. The black color as
the leitmotiv of the collection is refreshed with shades of blue and silver. Men’s collection
is composed of fine suits sewed from the highest quality wool, shiny cotton corduroy in
combination with leather and lace and satin silk. With this collection she proved that lace
and silk are not materials reserved just for women.
The women’s collection is composed of long and short dresses, shirts and high waist
skirts. Monochrome monotony was avoided by combining different materials of different
textures, so silk, cotton, wool, lace and sequined materials were combined. In order to
support the designer actors Robert Kurbaša and Vladimir Tintor were in role of models,
and Mister of Croatia Dino Bubičić, star of the first Croatian Big Brother Show Zdravko
Lamot and Mister of Tourism Kristijan Janušić showed that men also care about their looks.

campaign was presented to the audience in the form of performance art in Zagreb’s
famous club Ritz. The collection consisted of metallic shiny materials, shiny cotton velvet,

style that the designer spiced up with a touch of glamour resulting in quirky pieces of
clothing for more formal events. Asymmetric feminine cuts link the collection with (non)
colors black and silver. Faces of this collection were actress Marijana Mikulić, Miss Croatia

The seasonal, summer showroom Marta has held in cooperation with the Hookah Bar-TV
in Vodice and to 2010 in 2011. Hookah bar is a famous summer bar located on the beach
Olympia, which hosts the most popular daily parties. The bar is equipped with various
facilities and in cooperation with the designer their offer was expanded to selling designer
summer clothes, so all unprepared for the beach or a party could find a new outfit at their
fingertips and the possibility of shopping together with some coffee or champagne in
a pleasant atmosphere. This type of cooperation between designer Marta Buzolić and
Hookah bar was the first of its kind in Croatia, and then the idea was taken up by other
clubs. During the summer season there were multiple organized fashion shows with the
showroom clothes, so that Hookah bar actually became the place for fashion events. In
2010 Marta Buzolić has exhibited herown collection, and the following year she invited
her two colleagues designer Nataša Kos and Ines Zrnc Gregorina to join, in order for the
offer to expand and popularize Croatian design.

COSTUME DESIGN
Mono drama “Ispit Savjesti” is a part of actor Robert Kurbaša’s project, who apart from
appearing on stage is the author of stage adaptation and the director and the costume
designer is Marta Buzolić. The basis of the play is an essay by Tin Ujević of the same
title around which Kurbaša skillfully intertwined other Ujević’s texts, so he touches
upon timeless themes, close to modern man while talking to himself and the audience
simultaneously on the scene. Marta Buzolić adapted her costumes to present time as to
the time Tin Ujević wrote about.

“Tko je poput kao” is a children’s play in rhyme with a theme of friendship and sharing in
form of dialogue between two court jesters. The designer played with vivid colors and in a
joyful way showed court jesters who children welcome with joy. The construction consists
of five elements, and certain elements consist not only of textile creations but of sponge
and wire in order to accentuate and fixate certain parts and to make the ones with the wire
flexible. The author of the text is Dunja Lukas, the director Robert Kurbaša and costume
designer Marta Buzolić.

Marta Buzolić presented her vision of a modern Carmen among the ten selected Croatian
designers who were invited by the Croatian National Theatre in Split to hold a fashion show
as an annunciation of the ballets “Napoli” and “Carmen”. For this occasion the designer
created a dress which was composed of sequined red material as the upper part of the dress
which makes a short dress, and a large cape which has more than five meters of black tulle
sewed on in circular shapes on red satin which allude to a flower, and finally a hair ornament
which was also inspired by the flower which is characteristic of Carmen. The fashion show
was worn by ballerinas of the Croatian National Theatre in Split.
CARMEN COSTUME
Famous Croatin singer Giuliano appeared on “Dora”, Croatian best song contest for

style in which the black color is dominant, and five combinations for the singers in pastel
colors made from silk of different weaving. After that festival the collaboration continued on
festivals and appearances of the band Libar that followed and lasts till present day.

“Loša navika” is a pop-rock love song. In the music video this love story is presented as love
for driving, but even while driving the most important thing is safety and certitude as it is
important for every love story. In this music video the designer played with the rock style
and made the singer and the backing vocals feminin and irresstable in creations in which
the combination of artificial and genuine leather is most prevalent.

DRESSES AND SUITS
Marta Buzolić in addition to designing wedding dresses for fashion presentations and
exhibitions, is known for designing tailored wedding dresses and wedding suits. The
designer, after getting acquainted with the newlyweds (it was just a wedding dress and
or the suit) considers the structure of the body, style of dress/suit and the vision they have
of her wedding and designs for the most important day of their lives. For this portfolio
we selected two weddings. First wedding dress designer has designed the outfit for the
bride and groom. Since the groom was a bass player of the rock band Libar, Vojan Koceić,
the suit had to be adapted to his usually rocker style and thus align his wife Ivana’s dress
for which the designer has designed an unusual wedding dress which is made of more
than 10 meters of material and which is interesting for its asymmetrical construction, the
amount and consistency of different kinds of materials in combination with a corset which
is also made of several types of materials. The materials that were used are silk, lace and
tulle, and for the suit fine cold wool combined with satin ribbons as accents. For a second
wedding dress designer has used silk and lace, and tulle for the veil that fell to the floor.

Marta Buzolić’s career is always under the the watchful eye of the Croatian media, television, print
and online media. There is almost no media that accompanies cultural and fashion events that has not
written about this designer’s work or done interviews with her. The following are some of the printed
editions of interviews and articles.
Globus, a leading Croatian political weekly newspaper since 1990, each year selects the most
beautiful Croatian women of the year. The difference from the other beauty contests is that
the newsroom chooses girls / women, not only for their beauty but also for their successful

  • 7. Marta Buzolić had her fist independent fashion show on May 2nd 2007 at one of the most famous fashion events in Croatia and Europe - Zagreb Fashion Week. It was at the “Young Designers” part of the event. The fashion show was composed of ten models in black and white (non)colors sutured from the finest materials - silk, leather and faux fur. Marta Buzolić presented her vision of a woman to the audience, a woman who is glamorous, feminine and sexy. A woman full of self-confidence. Among the 24 students of the Faculty of Textile Technology Marta Buzolić stood out with her creations which resulted in great media attention, positive professional reviews and in the end an invitation from Suzy Josipović Redžepagić, the director of Zagreb Fashion Week, to appear next season alongside renowned Croatian and international designers. She didn’t miss the opportunity she got and she became a recognizable seasonal exhibitor at this fashion event. Along with appearing on Zagreb Fashion Week, Marta Buzolić performed at other fashion events and was the organizer of a variety fashion events herself which were always intriguing, covered by the media and socially noted. Showbiz stars are indispensable audience at her shows. Up to this point in her career Marta Buzolić has presented herself at around fifty fashion events throughout Croatia (Zagreb, Split, Zadar, Šibenik, Vodice, Rab, Brač, Korčula...) and at the Priština Fashion Week in Kosovo. The following are the selected fashion shows. Designer Marta Buzolić celebrates the woman (and the man), feminine body, freedom and courage. What connects all her collections are self-confidence, glamour, sex appeal and exceptionally fine materials. She would treat her loyal audience with some finishing fashion performance at each show. – 1 –

  • 9. Marta Buzolić presented herself with forty feminine models made of fine and shiny materials and lace. White and black (non)colors are drawn through her collection and silver as the link between them. The emphasis is on the simple but effective cuts in combination with high quality materials like silk of different weaving and lace which make the collection glamorous. The cutouts on the dresses are strategically placed so they would hint to a female body silhouette, and in order to emphasize the figure corsets are used which she combines with dressy slacks used as the top part of the dress. Apart from being a detail the lace in Marta Buzolić’s collection was in a role of a shirt. For the end of the show Marta prepared a multilayer tailored dress which is undressed using two easy moves, and in the end the model is left in a corset with garters which the audience rewarded with a great applause and the designer sent a message to women not to neglect what they wear underneath their clothes. • 14. Marta Buzolić presented herself with a feminine and glamorous collection. She added the red color to the black and white (non)colors by which she emphasized the audacity and the courage of a woman. She emphasized the exclusivity of wonderful dresses with the selection of materials - fluffy silk, leather, lace and cashmere. The dresses are accented with large-brimmed lady hats, leather belts high round the waist, short boleros, leather gloves and bags. Transparent light blouses with balloon sleeves and a bow around the neck complemented the high waist of long ‘A’ cut dresses and those knee long ones. She emphasized the leather creations with back tying modeled on the corset while the fluttering long dresses were awoken with draping and breaking the monotony with a combination of different material samples. Traditionally at the end of the fashion show Marta treated the audience with corsets, hot panties and garters, once again stressing the importance of that which is unseen. • 19. Marta Buzolić presented her glamorous collection inspired by Rock/Punk style. The thing connecting models in this somewhat wild collection are silver and golden colors in combination with animal print samples. Material selection - silk and leather - adds to the elegance while the rebellion is emphasized with chains. The dresses are accented with leather jackets and bags which are additionally emphasized with metallic details – rivets and chains. The strictness of leather dresses was dissolved by the combination with fluttering silk. The dress cuts celebrate the female body, and with a few designer tricks short dresses are modified into long ones. The designer demonstrated her innovativeness also with a gown made of chains. Marta Buzolić proved with this collection that seemingly incompatible styles and materials can certainly work together if put into the hands of a connoisseur. The aforementioned was confirmed by the audience who awarded Marta Buzolić with the Best Fashion Designer Award. November29th2009 FASHION WEEK ZAGREB – 4 –

Golden color as the absolute metaphor of light and the Sun which shines and dazzles as a symbol of “higher value”, a symbol of hope and transformation, and white color as an eternal symbol of innocence, purity and celebration along with the queen of materials - silk - and timeless lace which symbolizes the upper-class and female morality, which came as a result of women’s intensive labor, make these creations glamorous and the woman irresistible. The designer chose this collection as the subject of her graduation thesis “Gold and white in clothes design” which she defended with great success. June5th2009 FASHION WEEK ZAGREB – 5 –

The black color as the leitmotiv of the collection is refreshed with shades of blue and silver. Men’s collection is composed of fine suits sewed from the highest quality wool, shiny cotton corduroy in combination with leather and lace and satin silk. With this collection she proved that lace and silk are not materials reserved just for women. The women’s collection is composed of long and short dresses, shirts and high waist skirts. Monochrome monotony was avoided by combining different materials of different textures, so silk, cotton, wool, lace and sequined materials were combined. In order to support the designer actors Robert Kurbaša and Vladimir Tintor were in role of models, and Mister of Croatia Dino Bubičić, star of the first Croatian Big Brother Show Zdravko Lamot and Mister of Tourism Kristijan Janušić showed that men also care about their looks. The bar is equipped with various facilities and in cooperation with the designer their offer was expanded to selling designer summer clothes, so all unprepared for the beach or a party could find a new outfit at their fingertips and the possibility of shopping together with some coffee or champagne in a pleasant atmosphere. This type of cooperation between designer Marta Buzolić and Hookah bar was the first of its kind in Croatia, and then the idea was taken up by other clubs. During the summer season there were multiple organized fashion shows with the showroom clothes, so that Hookah bar actually became the place for fashion events. Since the groom was a bass player of the rock band Libar, Vojan Koceić, the suit had to be adapted to his usually rocker style and thus align his wife Ivana’s dress for which the designer has designed an unusual wedding dress which is made of more than 10 meters of material and which is interesting for its asymmetrical construction, the amount and consistency of different kinds of materials in combination with a corset which is also made of several types of materials. The materials that were used are silk, lace and tulle, and for the suit fine cold wool combined with satin ribbons as accents. For a second wedding dress designer has used silk and lace, and tulle for the veil that fell to the floor.

  • 96. Globus, a leading Croatian political weekly newspaper since 1990, each year selects the most beautiful Croatian women of the year. The difference from the other beauty contests is that the newsroom chooses girls / women, not only for their beauty but also for their successful and recognized career. In 2010 among the 12 most beautiful Croatian women they chose Marta Buzolić. Shooting was held in Novi Vinodolski in a spirit of pin-up beauty. Besides publishing Marta’s photos the editors wrote: “BORN FOR SUCCESS. Dalmatian girl. Split girl. Models’ proportions. Fashion designer with a boutique in Zagreb. She dresses the rich and famous. Globus is asking her to pose for us as one of 12 candidates for Most beautiful Croatian women, but for her it is not enough and she unstoppably goes on, soon to open another boutique ... Somebody stop this girl! She can get hurt! “ GLOBUS 1
