By partnering with Macquarie Telecom,
Relationships Australia was able to
completely revamp their infrastructure
providing them with a stable platform for
the future.
Mark comments on the partnership with
Macquarie “With all the challenges that
were in front of me and also with the
current carrier embargo around the corner,
I couldn’t have felt I was in better hands. It
didn’t matter if it was Christmas Eve and
contracts needed to be signed, I knew that
whatever needed to be done, Macquarie
would make sure it happened.”
By introducing key Macquarie Telecom
service delivery personnel early in the
engagement, we were able to ensure the
project was completed quickly and
smoothly over the Christmas period.
When asked if Mark would recommend
Macquarie Telecom’s services to other

02THE
SOLUTION
After reviewing all the responses to the
tender, Relationships Australia knew that
Macquarie Telecom was the right vendor
for their organisation.
Mark Hindle, Head of Technology, comments on
why they chose Macquarie Telecom “Not only
did their proposal meet all our needs, but it was
also the most cost effective and enabled us to
update our ageing infrastructure without
costing us a fortune. At the end of the day we
are a not-for-profit and Macquarie understood
that and didn’t waste our time with a
ridiculously expensive proposal ”
Macquarie Telecom was able to offer a one-stop
solution. This included:
 A redundant multi-carrier Data, Voice
& Mobile network, underpinned by
an integrated suite of management
tools that met the budget of a not-
for-profit organisation.
 A centralised hosting solution in the
Intellicentre 2 facility migrating
across the legacy data from their 23
disparate sites. This platform also
made future planned projects like
Video Conferencing & application
delivery via Citrix a possibility.
 The replacement of ageing phone
systems with a SIP solution that
provided significant cost savings and
gave them greater visibility into the
network.
01THE
SITUATION
With 23 sites across NSW all containing
independent phone systems and disparate
legacy hardware, Mark Hindle, the newly
appointed Head of Technology had quite a
challenge on his hands when he stepped
into the role on November14th 2014, with
a head office move scheduled to take place
the following February.
Mark comments on the challenge he faced
“Stepping into the role I inherited a large
number of ageing legacy systems, some that
hadn’t been updated in almost 12 years, and I
knew with the office move coming it presented
a great opportunity to really clean house and
consolidate all our infrastructure.”
This disparate and ageing infrastructure, along
with the ADSL based network was constraining
the business from delivering new applications
and services. This meant much of their effort
and expense was wasted on maintaining the
ageing hardware.
Therefore Relationships Australia went to tender
with some clear goals in mind:
 Modernise the network in order to
utilise more modern technologies like
SIP and gain QoS on services.
 Remove legacy hardware at remote
sites and adopt a centralised
approach to managing infrastructure.
 Improve visibility across the
infrastructure and network.
