I was bornand raisedinSan Antonio’sEastSide. IattendedSt.Gerard’sHighSchool.My Dad born in
San AntonioandraisedinMonterreyMexico,myMotherborn inLaredoTexasand grew up inSan
Antonio. Ihave alwaysbeeninvolvedinthe Art'sinsome formor another. I am a self taughtartistand
musicianandsongwriter.I have beeninspiredbyall formsof Art andMusic from the classicsto
modernism. My Dad boughtme myfirstguitar whenIwas 8 yearsoldand bythe time Iwas 9 had
formeda bandplayingcoversof 60’s musicand performingattalentshowsandparties.WhenIwas 10
my motherenrolledme in the Raul GutierrezSchool of Art where Ilearnedbasicsinwatercolor
techniquesoilsandpastel drawing.Afterabout4 yearsof art lessonsIpickedupmyDad's 8mm movie
camera andstarted tomake shortfilms.Ialwayslovedphotographyandwasfascinatedbythe
photographsinLife magazine andNational Geographic.Iwouldspendhoursatthe PublicLibrary
readingthe Time Life booksorlooking throughthe stereoscopesandthe oldpictures.
At the age of 18 I traveledtoEurope and backpackedmywaythrough EnglandandCentral Europe. I
purchaseda KodakInstamaticina Kioskat WaterlooStationinLondonand beganto thinkthroughthe
imagesandcreate the photographs. Asa musician/songwriterwhileinEurope Iwasable to performin
pub’sand coffee housesaswell aslarge concerthalls.
I was 20 yearsoldwhenI purchasedmyfirst35mm SLR Minolta XE 5 cameraand begantakingserious
blackand white andColorphotos. I’ma self-taughtartistusingavarietyof mixed mediatoproduce
subtle tobolddramaticportraitsand landscape paintings.Iuse myphotographyandDigital Imageryto
pursue a Photo-Realismstyleof painting.Byusingmydigital imagesasa model Iam able to geta unique

As a visual artist,Istrive toproduce paintingsthatevoke asense of beingandan awarenessof the life
that surroundsus.I provide aglimpse of the pastand place youthere by digitallycapturingamomentin
time or a historical place.Mydesire istopaintthese imagesbyusingwatercolor,acrylicandpastelsina
realisticandcontemporarystyle.Mylove forart flourishedatanearlyage and at 18, I sojournedto
Europe to live andwork.Thisperiodinmylife allowedme tobe exposedtodifferentculturesand
artisticideasthatinfluence me andmyart today.My paintingsare mypersonal interpretationsof
architecture,landscapesandpeople inwhichIutilizecolor,lightandbalance thatare an expressionand
ignite the imagination.
