Today is my youngest child Rachel’s 30th birthday. She was born at home in Yuma
with one of the last known midwives to still do home births in 1987, Jan CannellJan CannellJan CannellJan Cannell. Jan
is an awesome and caring person who is also a nurse. She has served the Yuma
community all these years. My daughter Rachel MesaRachel MesaRachel MesaRachel Mesa became a kindergarten
teacher and she works at HLS School here in Yuma. Rachel has a true love for
teaching and really connects well with the children, their families and her co-workers.

This week I spoke to two individuals who said and I quote “if I knew ahead of time it
would be this hard I would have never attempted this, but I’m sure glad I did”. One
person invented a new product and started a business and the other person started
a non-profit. They were both happy they accomplished what they had set out to do
and stuck with it. It was inspiring and is just a reminder to move forward with our
creative ideas. It most certainly will not always be easy but it is very satisfying.
