1. Revelation – “apocalypsis” means unveiling, bring to
light, reveal
John wrote Revelation about a.d. 95, during the reign of
the Roman emperor Titus Flavius Domitian while he was
in the Island of Patmos.
Revelation is rooted in the Old Testament. It contains
more than 500 reference to the O.T, and 278 of the 404
verses in Revelation refers to the O.T.

1. Futurist view
- The majority of the prophesy written in the book will
take place in the Last days.
- There will be literal 1000 yrs and the Second coming is
before the 1000 yrs. “pre-millennial”
- There will be 7 yr period of Tribulation in literal
fulfillment of the judgments described in the book.
- Futurist differ on the timing of the Rapture

- “amillennial” – no literal 1000 yrs.
-visions and symbols of Revelation only refer to the
timeless struggle between the forces of good and evil

- The book of Revelation covered the entire scope of
history from the Resurrection of Christ to His Second
Coming
-most of the prophesy in the book has already been
fulfilled in our day

4. Preterist view
- believes that the prophecies in the Book of Revelation
was fulfilled in the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 AD.
-“Post millennial” no literal 1000 yrs.
- When the church become increasingly more influential
and once the world has been Christianized, then, Jesus
will come again.

6. Revelation 1:7
7 Behold, He is coming with clouds, and every eye will
see Him, even they who pierced Him. And all the tribes
of the earth will mourn because of Him. Even so, Amen.
Matt. 24:30
30 Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in
heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn,
and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds
of heaven with power and great glory.

7. Daniel 7:13-14
13 “I was watching in the night visions,
And behold, One like the Son of Man,
Coming with the clouds of heaven!
He came to the Ancient of Days,
And they brought Him near before Him.
14 Then to Him was given dominion and glory and a
kingdom,
That all peoples, nations, and languages should serve
Him.
His dominion is an everlasting dominion,
Which shall not pass away,
And His kingdom the one
Which shall not be destroyed.

8. Revelation 1:10
I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s Day
Two possibilities to interpret this:
1) Maybe it simply means that he was in an attitude of
worship on a Sunday.
2) or, the more probably meaning is, he was taken up in
the Spirit unto the Day of the Lord.

11. The word that was translated angels is the greek
word “angelos”
But a much better translation would be
“messenger”
Sometimes the word was applied to human
messengers. John the Baptist is called an “angelos”
in Matthew 11:10.
“This is the one about whom it is written: "'I will
send my messenger ahead of you, who will prepare
your way before you.”
