In this lesson we are talking about introduction to computer hardware. You will also see the explanation of computer hardware. Again, there are five hardware devices namely: Input devices, output devices, storage devices, networking devices and processing hardware. I also provided examples of every hardware devices and their pictures as well.
4. INPUT HARDWARE
What is input hardware?
►This are devices that are used to input/enter data into the computer.
Input hardware devices and their pictures:
5. INPUT DEVICES
Keyboard :is the main device of a computer.
Mouse :it allows the user to move the cursor on the display screen.
Microphone :it enable the user to input audio into a computer.
Webcam :is an input device that is able to capture images and video and input
them into a computer.
Bar code reader :it is a device used for reading bar corded data.
Joystick :It is used to move the cursor position on a monitor screen.
Scanner :it is a device that analyze images , sprinted text , etc…
6. OUTPUT HARDWARE
What is output hardware?
►This is any piece of computer hardware used to communicate the results of internal
computer processing to the outside world.
Output devices and their pictures:
7. OUTPUT DEVICES
Printer :is a device that accepts text and graphic output from a computer and
transfers the information to paper.
Projector :it receives video ,picturs and text output from a computer and project it
on a large projection screen like smartboard or a flat wall.
Monitor :it is used for visual display ,e.g video ,pictures and text.
Speakers :it is used for voice output.
8. STORAGE HARDWARE
What is storage hardware?
They are used to store ,write , read and retrieve data/information.
Storage hardware can be categorized as follows:
►Storage media:
•Removable storage medium
•Non-removable storage medium
•Primary storage media
•Secondary storage media
►Storage device
9. STORAGE MEDIA
What is storage media?
►Are the materials on which data are written and stored.
•Removable storage media : CD,DVD,USB flash , flopphy disk
•Non-removable storage media :Hard disk,solid-state-drive
•Primary storage media :data in these media can be erased and new data be written
again in the same media . Examples: USB flash , memory card , hard drive etc..
•Secondary storage media :data in these media can not be erased . They are used to
store data permanently. Examples : CD-ROM,DVD-ROM , floppy disk etc…
10. PROCESSING HARDWARE
Are devices that manipulate data , carry out calculations, store and retrieve data.
Processing devices are :
►Data buses
►Chipset
►Central Processing Unit
►Motherboard
►Registers
ETC….
