1. Maja Grgic was showing interest towards music from her earliest childhood.
She was born 09/20/79, and as a 6 years old she is recording with famous children choir "Mali raspjevani
Dubrovnik".
After the formal musical education, primary and secondary school (piano), she become active on Croatian
pop-rock scene as a front woman of the band "Zoo Taboo" in the late 90's.
While 14 she wrote song "Zaboravi" ("Forget it"), which hit the number one place on some of the top lists.
In the search of new musical horizons, she finds her passion in the world Jazz. In the beginning she
preforms with top local players and in 2005. she enrols Jazz school in Graz (Hochschulle fur Musik und
Darsellende Kunst). She studies with prof. Laurie Antoniolli and attends master classes with Dean Kaelin,
Shawn Monteiro, Lianee Carroll, Dave Douglas, prof. Stojan Stojanov etc. She had an opportunity to share
the stage with Ivan Santos, Reggie Johnson , Douglas Sides, Marcelo Godoy, Mathias Duplessy, Walter
Lang etc. Maja also recorded with the national TV Big Band (HRT Big Band) and HRT Tamburitzas
orchestra.
In 2008. she receives "Status" award from Croatian musicians union (HGU) for best upcoming artist in
Jazz category, as a first singer awarded.
In 2009. she receives "Porin" award (Croatian Grammy) for best Jazz composition, also, her album "Crno
Bijelo"(Black and White) was nominated in category best Jazz album. On that album she appears as a
singer, composer and a songwriter.
Except her own project with the band Joe & Maja Kolektiff she appears on CD's Cute plays Goodman -
The Cute, Samoborskog Big Banda, New Tribe, Vecer hrvatskih autora (The night of Croatian
Composers)- Big Band HRT.
2009. She continues her education in London in LCCM academy for song writing and composition.
Graduated in 2012.
In 2014. she performed in Norway and China with Jazz musicians and symphonic orchestra.
