Extended Search Magento extension greatly improves Magento search results. This extension finds exactly what your customers are looking for. It runs its own search algorithm, based on products' "weights", which are being calculated dynamically for every search query.
3. Log into Admin Panel ->System ->Configuration
->MageWorx tab ->Tweaks. Make sure „Extended
Search‟ is enabled.

Priority Multiplier
specifies a priority multiplier for
„search weights‟ calculation
* Extended Search uses its own search algorithm based on „weight‟ of every product, being
calculated dynamically for each search query. The algorithm is similar to what is used in
major search engines, when each result is sorted based on its „weight‟ to search queries. This
makes the results incredibly relevant.
4. Priority of Attributes
Extended Search allows changing a
priority of each product‟s attribute.
This priority means how important every
attribute will be in search results.
Example, if a „name‟ attribute has the
highest priority, the products that have a
search keyword in their names
will be higher in search results that other
products.
The algorithm of „weight‟ calculation is
not so obvious, but the example helps to
understand how priority of attributes is
used
5. Search by Attributes
Extended Search allows displaying attributes
selector on the front-end near the search box. It
helps to narrow down the search results and find
more accurate results.
Example, if a customer wants to find the products
by „Apple‟ only, he can choose „Brand‟
attribute and search only by „Apple‟ brand.
6. Attributes that are marked as
„Use in Advance Search’ are
displayed in this selector:
7. Search Queries Accuracy
Extended Search allows admin to choose how the search should work for complex search
queries. There are 3 possible ways:
Any
the search will find the products that
have the whole search
query, separate words from the
search query and all the
combinations of the words of this
query.
Example, if a customer is searching
for “Nokia Lumia”, it will find the
products that suit the exact
match, then it will find the products
that have “Nokia” and “Lumia”
keywords and the combinations like
“Lumia Nokia”.
All
the search will find the products that
have the whole search query, all the
combinations of the words of this
query and the products, which include
the words from the search query written
separately.
Example, if a customer is searching for
“Nokia Lumia”, it will find the goods that
suit the exact match, then the goods
that have the combinations like “Lumia
Nokia” and then the goods that have
the text like “Nokia is the best
smartphone. Lumia is the nice model.”
Exact
the search will find the products
that will suit the exact match of the
search query only.
Example, if a customer is searching
for “Nokia Lumia”, it will find the
products that suit “Nokia Lumia”
only.
