Organization of the United Nations).
• Statistical framework and applied information
system for analysis and policy making.
• Designed to organize, integrate, disseminate
data and metadata on Food and Agriculture.
• Gathers and harmonizes statistical
information so that data at national level is
compatible with international standards.
7. How country-stat works.
• The Country STAT approach is based on the
application of data and metadata standards of
FAOSTAT and GAUL (Global Administrative Unit
Layers).
• Many countries interested and adopting it into
their national statistical system.
• Country STAT is accompanied by networking with
FAOSTAT and other sister information systems
like FENIX.
• FAOSTAT Certified and internationally accepted.
9. HOW SPARK MULTI-TECH INTENDS TO
WORK WITH CICA AND COUNTRY-STAT
• Country-stat data is open access.
• CICA/SPARK MoU in progress regarding data
access and use.
• Data from CICA and Country-stat will be
interpreted and translated to local
Kinyarwanda.
• Verification and certification by CICA and
MINAGRI.
14. Expectations from Spark
• Processing data into meta-data
• Dissemination of information via Short Code
• Dissemination of information via USSD
• Database management
• Website management
15. VIA SHORT CODE
• Spark hold over 50 key words which when
called via an SMS return an intended message
to the consumer. eg
1. TYPE IKAWA
2. SEND TO 7010
16. • IKAWA is the key word in this instance and it
shall return the intended message say;
Ubuhinzi bw’ikawa mu
Rwanda buri ku rundi
rwego kubera ikawa
y’uRwanda yingiza
amafaranga menshi
cyane
17. • Spark shall design the key words and update
these regularly to ensure up to date
information is disseminated to the end users.
• TIGO shall play the role of pushing the key
words to the users who then shall get an idea
of the exact key words to obtain. Given the
information to disseminated is a lot, for each
of these key words we intend to update the
information corresponding to the 'KEY WORD'
regularly for the information to remain
relevant.
18. VIA USSD
• USSD should capture more information than
the keywords used under the short code as it
is allowed 4 screen shots on a mobile phone.
Under this we shall include the different types
of information to be captured.
22. PRESS (i)
The leading livestock
products in the country are;
beef, eggs, chicken and milk.
Rwanda produces over 1
million litres of milk per
annum, plus exports over 20
metric tonnes of beef to
neighbouring states.
23. DATABASE MANAGEMENT
• Using a Data Base Management System that will help
to store, modify and extract information from the
database.
• Spark database is made up of Keywords and the
information that is updated onto the keywords and it
is still growing.
• All this is stored on a Database Server. A Database
Server is the back-end system of a database
application which runs on a client server (PC)
24. • The back-end management will be done by
qualified and well trained Spark IT personnel.
• Information from the database will be availed
to TIGO and other stakeholders stipulated in
the contract through a login username and
password.
