1. Election Day 2010
Today is a day to make us all proud.
a day filled with purpose with opinions allowed.
Election Day gives us our freedom and choice.
Democracy gives us a vote and a voice.
By placing a vote with wisdom so great
we participate proudly and manage our fate.
If we sit back and watch from the safety of sidelines
We have avoided our duty and American guidelines.
We can vote for the future or strategic direction
and we can vote for our candidates who campaigned for election.
We can choose which ideals will best suit our needs
and we can choose from those running who have done certain deeds.
They have told us their plans for weeks upon weeks.
They have outlined solutions that each of us seeks.
Solutions to problems that exist in our nation.
We seek some new growth to replace the stagnation.
Some of their answers will not make the grade
And some of the candidates are in need of some aid.
A few of them choose to use negative words
and others are known as just crazy old birds.
Republican, Democrat, Libertarian, Green
and now the new Tea Party has entered the scene.
What do they stand for and how will they lead ?
It depends on their focus to the questions we read.
We can follow the news and find their stories amusing,
when its all said and done it can be quite confusing.
Are the candidates qualified and named as the best ?
Or did shame fall upon them from one litmus test ?
Character, Integrity and their list of good deeds
must outshine the myths of negative seeds.
Focus on actions that will be good for us all
with speed that avoids the political crawl.
Our vote for a leader that we have chosen to trust.
Must be met with conviction that is honored and just.
We don’t want their drive and political thirst
to leave us all angered when their image gets burst.
2. Our votes make a difference for the future we’re told
the tallied collection from the young and the old.
Our fate will be labeled for the good or the bad
and we hope there’s no sign of a dangling chad.
Each vote is precious and unique to each owner
It cannot be given as a gift from a donor.
If you choose not to use it with action post-haste
Your American right will be counted as waste.
Think about places where there is no choice,
Dictators rule and won’t give you a voice.
They choose who will eat and those who will die
They hold all the pieces of the leadership pie.
They control all the money and they control all the actions.
They control all the wealth and they share only fractions.
But here in our nation we are given the tools
to vote with a conscious and remove all the fools.
So please ponder your choices and take action to vote
and remember the mishaps that history once wrote.
Although it seems tough and the choices are slanted
your vote is important and a wish that is granted
A wish for the future for our kids and our nation
a wish for success and a grand celebration ……
