Where i am on the political and economical spectrum
1. Where I am on the Political and Economical Spectrum
Lindsay Brown
After the learning and discussing the thoughts of the modern political
and economical spectrum, and the differences between the right and the left
side, I believe I would place myself on right side of the spectrum. I am a strong
believer in that if change needs to happen, it needs to come after much
thought, debate and discussion on why changed would better our country or
society. I believe that the right is best suited with me because I agree with
many the statements that come out of the right side, Conservative side of the
spectrum. I agree with the fact that in equality, everyone has the same chance
to succeed or fail. People should not be judged on who they are, or how hard
they work by how they look. But on that note people have the freedom to
choose what they want to do with the rest of their lives and they have the
opportunity to set up success or watch if fade away with their decisions.
Everyone has the opportunity with education; it is their responsibility to take
as much as they want out of it to help with their successes. I also agree with
the fact that we should be comfortable, and careful with how much of our
freedoms we give to the government. We should be careful but also
trustworthy of what the government has to do to keep each individual safe.
With the Rule of Law every individual is equal before the law, which connects
with every individual has the same right to be safe and protected by the
government. Another aspect that I agree with from the right is crime and
punishment. I believe that it is not far for one individual to break the law and
not get punished for it. It was that individual’s decision to commit that crime,
and not follow the rules of the law; therefore they should be punished for
their actions.
Things that I don’t agree with from the left side, liberal side of the
spectrum are the thought of the crime and punishment. I don’t believe that if
you are insane, or have mental issues that you should get away with the crime
that you have committed. Your actions have still happened even if you have
problems, you still committed a crime, which is wrong. One the left there is
the thought that they have higher taxes to help out the ones who are
unfortunate to not be able to have as much money as other. I don’t believe
that it is fair to have high taxes for the ones who are more fortunate and
successful. The wealthier should have the choice to spread their wealth to the
poor. They have worked hard for the money that they have made, and it
should be their choice to help others, or keep it to themselves.
I believe that I am located on this side of the spectrum because I have
been influenced through family, and grown up knowing that these things are
2. either write or wrong. By learning and discussing each side, I believe that the
right side is more me and I agree with more of the aspects from the right side.
