than a recording, it’s a
strong and vivid link to
our history
3. WHEN THE PICTURES PLAY, WE’RE
INSTANTLY TRANSPORTED BACK TO
A MOMENT IN TIME, NEVER TO BE
REPEATED. LEADERS SHAKE HANDS
WITH CROWDS, SPORTSMEN AND
WOMEN CROSS FINISHING LINES, THE
HERITAGE OF NATIONS IS CAPTURED:
ALL IN REAL-TIME…
As well as the large notes, the big proud occasions
that have defined the world, there are the simple
day to day notes: children playing, families
embracing, men and women smiling, holidays in
the sun - all images share an equal place in the
archives of our history.
Film is one of our greatest cultural treasures and
when it’s lost or damaged it can never be replaced,
it’s cast away upon the winds of time. It’s our
duty to ensure that memories and historical
footnotes are preserved and retained for our
children and generations to come, who’ll be able
to recall an eternal record of how we lived and
loved.
At R3store studios we understand its real value,
so we’re meticulously working on a worldwide
mission to restore film to its former glory and
update it for a new digital global audience hungry
for knowledge of the past.

16. Some Things We’re Doing
and We’ve Done
One of the most important tasks
undertaken by R3store has been
the prestigious Unlocking Film
Heritage project. Commissioned
by the British Film Institute, this
task centres upon the monumental
task of restoring, preserving and
digitising over 10,000 pieces of
nationally important film. Working
with a number of collections
and museums, each piece of
footage captures a lost piece of an
essentially British legacy. Prior to
the creation of R3store, the team
began working on the project and
have now worked on over 3000
titles and continue to do so.
However, it was not only the skill and
technique exhibited by Gerry, Richard and
Andrew that led them to become the go to
people for the project. In working with many
of the smaller archives, communication,
delivery dates and service became amongst
the most important demands. Due to a clear
and defined process, this is where the team
stood out from the other restoration houses
involved in the project.
17. Testimonial
“Working with R3store studios has been a hugely
positive experience. We really appreciate their
professionalism and the quality of the service
they deliver. Big, or small, it can be daunting to
embark on a digitisation project, but the team
at R3store guided us every step of the way,
going out of their way to support us and help
make the complex seem simple.
