1. Weld Checker BT68A
- Non-destructive weld quality checking
- Reliable test method
- High precision quality measurement
- Real time test monitoring
- Special testing algorithm
- Universal for all automotive batteries
- Easy and quick changeover
- Up to five batteries a minute
- Defective weld identification
- Networking facility (option)
- Combi or standalone supply
2. NON-DESTRUCTIVEWELD TESTING
BT68A automatically checks quality of battery
squeeze welds through internal ressistance ve-
rification. The testing method is completely a
non-destrucive method which distinctly ensures
that the welding has not been fatigued.
PLC based operation with user friendly HMI enab-
les easy and quick parameter setting as well as real
time testing result supervision. HMI is provided at
the operator panel provided at the front guarding
of the machine.
Battery conveyor is equipped with anti-scratch
protection on all battery contacting guides. The
conveyor comprises user friendly battery stop and
positioning devices. Standalone machine is also
supplied with a stop and go device.
Testing head can easily and quickly be adjusted for
another battery height through height setting
stoppers provided at the top of the testing head
assembly. Testingprobes are specially designed for
customer battery design to ensure consistent
probe contact with lead parts. Changeover of
probes for another battery types is made through
rulers provided at the probe support plates.
The machine is available to process all automotive
battery types in 1x6 or 2x3 cell layouts. Optionally
additional testing heads can be provided for golf
cart batteries in 1x3 & 1x4 cell layouts or NATO cell
batteries.
Testing of each weld is done sequentially. The mac-
hine is supplied with a power unit to supply desig-
nated power for testing unit. Testing unit also
checks probe contact with the lead parts to desig-
nate the nature of the failure- whether in weld
itself or because of poor contact.
Standard machine is supplied with Siemens S7 PLC
control. Optionally the machine can be supplied
with Mitsubishi or Allen Bradley PLC and HMI units.
Operator interface is provided with selector switc-
hes and emergency button.
The machine is capable to process up to five batte-
ries a minute. Typical changeover time within same
batery cell layout is five minutes.
TESTINGMETHOD
Voltage probes (green) supply voltage at designa-
ted rate, and test probes (brown) measure the
voltage (mV) regarding to ressistance between the
welded lead flags. The much the welded area the
less the ressistance in the test probes and vice
versa. Good welding test result is designated with
some deviational valu as a reference for testing. For
referencing a test value for a good welding other
test methods may also be applied.
An electronic device is integrated into the circuit
which enhances the resolution of measurement
and hence ensures much reliable reading of ressis-
tance. Also special programming applies to ensure
higher reliability and accuracy of testing.
