Associate Professor, Counseling Program
City University of New York, Queens College
I served as tenured faculty in the graduate Counseling Program, preparing students for careers as professional
school and mental health counselors through a rigorous combination of psychological theory courses, clinical labs,
and fieldwork. I made numerous presentations around the globe, and I played an active role in the college:
Chair, Educational and Community Programs Department, 2012 to 2015 and Deputy Chair 2004 - 2012.
In this position, I was responsible for budgets and personnel management for four graduate programs,
over forty faculty, and six support staff. I represented our Department at the Division and College level and
was vitally involved in edTPA activities, NCATE and CAEP accreditation and other aspects of assessment of
teacher quality.
Consultant to Creative Arts Team Master’s Program in Community Theatre, 2001 to 2015. This began as
a Red Cross funded program where graduate students use theatre productions to increase resilience and
teach coping strategies to children in the New York City Schools who were affected by the September 11,
2001 tragedy. I attended each production to provide services if an attending k-12 student needed
counseling services and advised the graduate students about trauma. After that, I joined the committee
charged with upgrading from a Certificate Program to the nation’s first M.A. in Applied Theater.
