What is an Optical Power Meter?
An optical power meter (OPM) is a testing instrument used to accurately measure the power of

fiber optic media. OPM has a calibrated sensor that measures an amplifier circuit and a display. It

Types of OPM
There are two types of OPM: Normal and PON OPM.
Normal OPM measures the optical power in the fiber optic link with a calibrated wavelength value
of 850/980/1300/1310/1490/1550/1625.
PON OPM can test the optical power values of voice, data, and video signals, supporting
EPON/GPON test. It is ideal for PON network construction and maintenance. In addition, PON
OPM provides simultaneous measurement at all three wavelengths (1310/1490/1550nm) on the
fiber.
