1. For Immediate Release
Dover Publications score, Selected Works for Cello and Piano by Auguste
Franchomme, edited by Louise Dubin
In November 2015, Dover Publications will publish an edition of piano-cello works
by Auguste Franchomme http://amzn.to/1PQ1ENh. All of the pieces included have
been out-of-print since the 1800s. The volume will include Louise Dubin’s
introduction, which discusses what she’s learned about Franchomme, his cello
technique and influences, and the particular pieces included. She has been
researching Franchomme for many years; you can read more about this on her
website and blog. The Dover volume will include facsimiles of the first French
edition of Franchomme’s Three Nocturnes Op. 15, in his version for cello and piano
(he also composed versions for cello duo, which she recorded on The Franchomme
Project album, released by Delos in September 2015), and other first editions that
include Franchomme’s fingerings and bowings. Other pieces on both album and in
this edition: Franchomme’s Caprice sur “Preciosa” de Weber, and his arrangements
of a Ballade and a Mazurka by Chopin. Full Table of Contents available on request.
