Academic Research Projects
Stony Brook University, Stony Brook, NY 11790
Bioinformatics, Biology Department (Fall Semester 2012)
Worked on a semester long project in which we researched the rate of synonymous
substitutions in Enterobacterial genes in relation to diCodon Usage Bias.
Used the computer programming program R to run statistics and analyze data.
Genetics/ Animal Development, Biology Department (Spring Semester 2013)
Worked on a semester long project in which our research was used by Dr. Peter
Gergen in his experiment to study how maternally expressed genes in the Drosophila
melanogaster contribute to the activity of the pair-rule transcription factors during
segmentation of the embryo.
We crossed certain males and females and did survival counts of progeny for 3
generations.
Observed segmentation defects of mutant progeny and recorded our findings.
