Larger than life comedian at Minnesota State Mankato
Chloe Hilliard to perform on Feb. 23
MANKATO, Minn. – Black History month celebration at Minnesota State University,
Mankato continues with journalist turned comedian Chloe Hilliard performing Feb. 23 at 7 p.m.
in the Ostrander Auditorium.
This event is free and open to the public. Hilliard’s event is brought to you by IMPACT,
the student programming board and sponsored by the Student Activities Fund. Following the
stand-up comedy session, Hilliard will do a question-and-answer session about her experience
as a female African-American in a white, male dominated profession.
“This is a different kind of event. Stand-up comedy is always fun, but we rarely get to
attend one on campus,” Pratakshya Bhandari, public relations chair for IMPACT said. “I have
seen her videos and they are funny, so I am excited to see her perform on campus.”
Hilliard is 6’1 and rocks a killer afro, making her larger than life, according to her
website. Her comedy is inspired from her experience growing up as an African-American in a
Jewish neighborhood in New York and based on her observation of life in general.
Hilliard graduated from New York University in magazine print journalism. For a decade,
she worked as a culture and entertainment journalist, writing for The Village Voice, Essence,
Vibe, King, The Source and Loop21.
