25. • This is going to tell you what was happening when a piece was
created.
• It will tell you what was important to the people and artist.
• In the previous question, the correct answer was papyrus reeds.
Why? I’m glad you asked…
In your research, you would have come across (hopefully) how
papyrus roots were a source of food, medicine, and perfume. Their
stems were used to make baskets, floor mats, ropes, clothing,
footwear, boats, assorted building materials, and the most important
writing material in the ancient world.

relics
B). rejects the use of axial plan exemplified by the

C). provides separate spaces allowing dignitaries to

30. It was a pilgrimage church----even the question said so! Everything
about it was made for pilgrims to pray at holy relics.
This church was already 600-700 years old when the Council of Trent
was held.
Its radiating chapels means that it can’t reject an axial plan
Dignitaries sat through Mass like everyone else. If they didn’t want to,
they built their own chapel and had Mass there.

33. • You won’t lose points for a wrong answer. You have a
25% chance of guessing correctly. You have a 50%
chance of an educated guess.
• Mark up your exam! Circle what they are looking for like
“content”, “style”, “identify”, etc.
• Draw on the pictures they give you. If they are asking
about vanishing perspective on a piece, DRAW IT ON
THERE!!
• Don’t spend too much time on 1 question---you have 80
to answer. Be aware of your time.
• Look for patterns and commonalities. For example: For
Polynesians, the CREATION of the object was as
important as the finished product, because of them
infusing it with Mana. Capes, masks, etc.
34. “Don't…second guess yourself! You told me that and I've tried to
remember that ever since.”---Brianna S.
“Read all the responses and eliminate what you know you can. Even
if half the statement is true eliminate it”---Rachel B.
“When it comes to images…(recall) the origin, the style, the
medium, and the influences. Then read the answers.”---Sada D.
