Major Job Responsibilities:
Specific Skills and Responsibilities
Administers medication and treatment to residents. Measures, records and monitors vital
signs such as height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse and respiration.
Works as part of a healthcare team to assess common illness as outlined in standing
orders and other conditions with the knowledge and approval of the Healthcare Services
Director or Physician. Manages the relationship between nursing and direct care.
Provides basic patient care and treatments such as taking temperature and blood
pressure, dressing wounds, treating bedsores, giving enemas, or performing
cauterizations.
Takes prompt action in case of a medical emergency as required by the pre-established
policy and procedures.
Performs all duties as ordered by physician. Carries out all assigned tasks in a timely
manner as requested per RN and/or Healthcare Services Director.
Keeps inventory of all medications and calls pharmacy for refills. Receives physician's
telephone orders and executes said orders according to pre-established procedures.
Informs parents, guardians and visitors of established policy and procedures. Completes
and keeps up-to-date residents medical records.
Maintains an awareness of cost for equipment and supplies. Reports all non-functioning
equipment.
Ensures that safety procedures are followed.
Reports any nursing care problems to the RN. Performs all other duties as requested by
the RN and/or Healthcare Services Director.
