1. My name is Lionel Cortez, I am a graduate student interested in pursuing a career in
lecturing at the University of Texas at RGV. Everyone can agree that I am a good student and
that I like to study. I am going to the University of Texas at RGV because my goal is to study my
favorite subjects in future and to become a professional in this area. Although I graduated with a
bachelor’s in Human and Health Performance, I also received an Associate in Sociology. I loved
studying the development and functioning of the human society. I believe with my back ground
and education that i would be a great teacher of the knowledge of social order.
I can say that I am a responsible and hard-working student. Moreover, being a sociable
person, I have many friends since I like to communicate with people and get acquainted with
new interesting individuals. I enjoy my time at school, it is really nice to study and the students
are very friendly and ready to help. The atmosphere makes me want to go there every time. I like
to receive challenging tasks and cope with them. I am a very enthusiastic student and I think this
is a strong point of mine.
My friends say I am a very funny and interesting guy with a good sense of humor. As
soon as I meet new people I enjoy conversations with them about their background and
upbringing I feel extremely comfortable with them. I believe that friendship is one of the most
important values in human life. We exchange new ideas, find many interesting things about each
other, have new experiences. I appreciate friendship and people who surround me.
My career goals are to graduate for U.T.R.G.V. with a Master’s degree and teach at the
University level. My interest and hobbies are to spend as much time with my boys to see them
grow and teach them well, I love to golf and fish and one day hope to own a boat. I see myself in
five years teaching and coaching students at UTRGV. I love being a coach and teaching young
youth the lessons of sportsmanship. They learn the rules of the game and lifelong commitment.
Football is the sport I love the most to teach, it’s because I’ve played it all my life and its
benefits on fitness. As well as, needs plenty of players involved both big and small and brings
people together to accomplish and objective.
