Within framework of ITE HCMC 2014, on morn-

Inauguration Ribbon Cutting and visited booths.

opment period 2013-2015 between ministerial
organ of Russia Federation and Vietnam Ministry
of Culture, Sports and Tourism. This is also an
occasion for administer of tourism organiza-
tions, tourism promotion center and tourism
enterprises of the two countries to network
together. There are more than 20 enterprises and
12 media coming from Russia.
Talk to introduce tourist destination of Korea will make an
introduction on tourist destination of Korea as well as service
of treatment and health care in Korea at 11h00 – 12h00,

A Wonderful Welcome
to ITE HCMC 2014
ITE HCMC 2014 is celebrating its 10th
anniversary in Vietnam this year. I am one of
the many people from around the world
privileged to attend.
The Welcome Dinner was held this
evening at the Elisa Floating Restaurant on
the Saigon River in HCMC. This restaurant is
a unique 4 storey timber structure in the
shape of a large boat that stays at the one
spot on the river.
On our arrival we went to the top deck to enjoy drinks and
snacks before a few wel-
come speeches were made.
We all then enjoyed the
Ho Chi Minh City Lighting
River Cruises Festival 2014.
This was a colourful parade
of boats on the Saigon River.
All were lit up with different
lighting techniques and they
made a spectacular sight as the floated by us on the river. Some
of the boats had the outlines of famous old buildings in HCMC,
such as the Post Office and Opera House. The most spectacular
boat was a floating stage, with large lit flowers decorating it. The
dancers, singers and fireworks on it created a most wonderful
experience.
The Welcome Dinner was served in the Elisa Floating
Restaurant, with musicians playing traditional Vietnamese music
as we ate.
I was impressed with the menu, where dish after dish was
brought out for us to enjoy. They showcased the wonderful food
that Vietenam has to offer. These included:
- Wrapped foods from 3 major regions of Vietnam (Fresh salad
roll, Spring roll, Steamed rice sheet with grilled meat)
- Lotus stem salad with pork meat and shrimp
- Chicken soup with lotus seed
- Crab sausage
- Grilled duck breast with honey
- Seafood fried rice wrapped in lotus leaf
- Tea and lotus seed moon cake.
ITE attracts delegates from around the world. I had the privi-
lege of sitting on a table with
delegates from Australia, Hong
Kong, India, Russia, Thailand
and Vietnam.
The Welcome Dinner and
River Parade were a most enjoy-
able introduction to ITE HCMC
2014.

Jubilee 10th season of ITE HCM 2014
opened with Lightning river cruise festival
and gala dinner with meaningful title “The
Mekong – the living colors” on 10 September
2014. In the warm evening of the tenth day
of September beautiful White Palace wel-
comed leaders of the Ministries of tourism of
5 countries – Vietnam, Thailand, Mianma,
Lao and Cambodia, high ranking officials of
Ho Chi Minh city, international buyers and
media of ITE HCM.
ITE HCM for more than ten years is the
largest and most established travel event in
Vietnam, supported by Ministry of Tourism,
Cambodia. Ministry of Information, Culture
and Tourism, Lao PDR, Ministry of Hotels and
Tourism, Myanmar, Ministry of Tourism and
Sports, Kingdom of Thailand and Ministry of
Culture, Sports and Tourism, Vietnam.
Colorful opening ceremony - gala dinner
ITE HCM 2014 started with welcoming
speech of H.E. Hoang Tuan Anh, Ministry of
Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam and
followed with Mekong Tourism Alliance
Award. The ceremony recognized the best
travel agents, hotels and airlines of five coun-
tries Vietnam, Thailand, Mianma, Lao and
Cambodia. Colorful cultural performance of
the gala dinner emphasized the unique beau-
ty of Mekong river countries.
This musical and traditional dances per-
formance shows vividly that the idea of "Five
countries - one destination" is creating very
special cultural experience in one travelling.
For many years I am
writing about Vietnam as
travel destination. My
book “Vietnam. The Land
of Dragons and fairies” is
highly appreciated both by
Russian and Vietnamese
readers. My essays about
the most beautiful and
attractive travel destina-
tions of Vietnam are pub-
lished regularly at Pegas
inflight magazine with
40.000 copies for monthly
circulation. This made me
quite close connected to
ITE HCM. Last year I had
an honor to have an exclusive interview with
H.E. Hoang Tuan Anh and Dr. Phan Dinh
Tan, Speaker of the Ministry of Culture,
Sports and Tourism of Vietnam. Also in
December 2013 I had a chance to share pro-
fessional tourism analytics about perspectives
of the tourism between Vietnam and Russia
in my article “Russians come back” in
Vietnamese language for Forbes Vietnam.
This year I am glad to introduce to profes-
sional of tourism industry of Vietnam an
effective instrument for promotion of
Vietnam as travel destination for Russian
market - “Business & Leisure” journal, the
journal for business community of Russia. In
the early 2015 special Vietnam issue of the
“Business & Leisure” journal is coming.
In recent years Vietnam became well
known at Russian market as popular mass
destination with many charter flights from
more than 20 airports of Russia. Every year
new hotels and resorts came into operation
in Vietnam. Among them are hotels which
belong to famous hotel brands of the world.
Travel industry of Vietnam is growing fast
and strong. Effective cooperation between
tourism industries of five Mekong region
countries is an interesting initiative and
promises to be fruitful if the professionals in
tourism business receive cooperation from
airlines and hotel business to form a com-
petitive product for Five countries - one
destination.

place the “Cambodia Night”
to introduce buyers, sellers,
media and VIPs the tourism
potentialities of Cambodia,
featuring both classical and
modern identities. The night
showcases diversified culture
and impressive food of Khmer.
Especially, the meeting this
night is also to strengthen
friendly solidarity and effective
cooperation between 05
countries in field of tourism
under the theme “5 Countries
– 1 Single Destination”. The
programme highlights per-
formances such as singing,
dancing, fashion show, play-
ing with traditional musical
instruments, having provided a
lot of big impressions and
attractions to both domestic
and international audiences.
Mr. Thong Khon – Minister
of Tourism of Kingdom of
Cambodia makes a speech:
“... ITE HCMC indicates a big
influence in the region. This is
chance for buyers and sellers
to meet, promote commercial
relations and also to market
perspective of tourism areas
in Cambodia as well as desti-
nations for regional tourists
and tourists who come from
third countries. Cambodian
Royal Government considers
tourism as “Green Gold”
adding to importance of
socio-economic development
as well as making contribu-
tion to develop “Green
Economy” in Cambodia. In
2013, Cambodia welcomed
4.2 million international
tourists, up by 17.5% against
2012, reporting a revenue of
USD 2.5 billion (accounting
for over 12% of GDP), creat-
ing direct jobs for more than
620,000 residents and indi-
rect jobs for tens of thousands
of others. In first 06 months of
2014, 2.2 million internation-
al tourists have visited
Cambodia. Vietnamese ones
rank first in quantity (more
than 430,000 tourists report-
ed). It is predicted that
Cambodia will receive about
4.6 million international
tourists in 2014 and 5 million
in 2015. By 2020, around 7 –
7,5 million tourists making a
revenue of about USD 5 bil-
lion will come here. In spite
of some difficulties and chal-
lenges, Cambodia’s Tourism
Industry still shows its per-
spective thanks to effective
cooperation and mutual sup-

Cambodia will host “Sea
Festival 2014” in province of
Kok Kong. In addition,
Cambodia is also the host
nation of World Conference
on Tourism and Culture from
February 4 to February 6,
2015 in Siem Reap AngKor
under the coordination with
Cambodian Royal
Government, UNWTO and

Chi Minh City (ITE HCMC) is
the annual event of the
Ministry of Culture, Sports
and Tourism in Ho Chi Minh
City. From an exposition with
small scale, mainly for
Tourism industry of three
countries of Vietnam, Laos
and Cambodia in 2005, ITE
HCMC now has become a
destination of travel compa-
nies, hotels, airlines of many
countries and territories,
especially ASEAN countries.
Having accompanied with
ITE HCMC since 2009 as a
sponsor, what strongly
impresses me is increasing
quantity of invited guests,
presence of famous tourism
brands from many countries
in the world, proactive atten-
tion of domestic and interna-
tional media as well as atten-
dance of international speak-
ers and politicians, etc.
Especially, messages over the
