Letter of Recommendation for Masters in Intl Comm Studies
1. Letter of Academic Recommendation
To whom it may concern,
I am writing to support the application of Line Aagaard in her application for the
Masters in International Communication Studies at Nottingham University in
Ningbo China (UNNC). Line was a student of mine in the spring term of 2015 in
my Cultural Anthropology and World Cultures Course through Humanitas College
at Kyung Hee University in Seoul, South Korea. During her time in my class, Line
was consistently one of the most engaged students in the course, demonstrating a
high level of intellectual understanding of the materials. She was also creative in
her thinking, able to quickly and competently analyze and synthesize the assigned
readings and work with her own experiences and knowledge. Her coursework
overall demonstrated a mastery of the material and a clear understanding of the
course goals.
Among my students, Line stands out for her exceptional willingness to engage
with the material through class discussion. She was eager to both articulate her
own experiences and ideas, and to tie them in to the topics we addressed in class.
She was also able to understand and integrate information shared by her peers as
a way to increase her own knowledge base and learn more about the world
around her. The course explicitly addresses cultural differences.
The vast majority of my students are second-language learners of English, as was
Line, but she had no trouble understanding the readings or participating in class
in English, and I have no doubt that she is capable of continuing studies in English
at the graduate level.
