• Athletes have a far higher risk
• 1/3 children will get diabetes
• Diabetes trends
4. HEALTHY FOR LIFE?
In the early 1900’s, the world’s Today, the world’s leading causes of premature
leading causes of premature deaths deaths are degenerative diseases:
were infectious diseases: • Cardiovascular Disease (16.7 million)
• Diphtheria • Cancer (8.6 million)
• Influenza • Stroke (5.5 million)
• Tuberculosis • Respiratory Disease (3.7 million)
• Pneumonia • Diabetes (990,000)

5. METABOLIC SYNDROME (X)
An Underlying Disease
Process
• Central obesity
• High blood pressure
• Low HDL and elevated VLDL
cholesterol
• Elevated triglycerides
• Elevated fibrinogen
• Insulin resistance
• Increased risk of heart
disease and diabetes
6. METABOLIC SYNDROME:
A Modern Epidemic
• 25% of all adults in North America and the industrialized
world have full blown metabolic syndrome. (Ford—
JAMA)
• 4 stages – 50% of North Americans
• 45% of all new diabetes in children is due to the metabolic
syndrome
• CDC estimates that 33% of the children born today in the
US will become diabetic—nearly 50% of the Blacks and
Hispanics - Canada - approximately 25%
7. Important information for
Adults, Teenagers & Children
• Our teens & children learn from us – educate
adults 1st
• Blood sugar levels affect teens & children
immensely – energy, moods, ADD, ADHD,
obesity, learning.
• 25% of all 10 year olds have type 2 diabetes
• NOW is the time to develop good habits
8. WEIGHT CONTROL FACTS
• 30% of N.Americans are trying to lose
weight. Another 30% are trying to
maintain weight.
• N.Americans spend $40 Billion per
year on diets and weight control
plans.
• Two-thirds who lose weight on diets
gain it back within 1 year.
• 98% gain their weight back and more
within 2 years.
9. Why Diets Don’t Work
“Most people try to lose weight to
become healthy but the truth is
that you must first become
healthy to lose weight on a
permanent basis” Dr. Libby Weaver Phd
10. Why Diets Don’t Work
• Successful permanent weight loss can be a
puzzle for many people
• Puzzle pieces -12
• #1-Get the Digestive System healthy
11. WHY DIETS DON’T WORK
• Majority of diets are not
balanced (Ornish, Atkins)
• Few tackle a major core issue- –
insulin insensitivity
• Short-term solution for a long-
term problem
• Few look at the whole
picture or health as a
lifestyle
12. Twelve Puzzle Pieces
• Getting the Digestive System healthy
• Body cells receive the nutrition they need
• Calories out/Calories in
• Stress Hormones
• Sex Hormones
• Chronic inflammation
14. Why Diets Don’t Work
“I’m going on a diet to lose this weight!”
• You will be going off this diet!
• What of the twelve puzzle pieces do diets cover?
• Short term solution to a long term problem
In this seminar we will look at 3 important
areas to create success:
15. Focus for Today
3 COMPONENTS
Supplementation
Nutrition
Exercise
16. TOPICS
• Why are the 3 components (supplementation, low
glycemic eating and exercise) necessary?
• Understanding the importance of keeping your blood
sugar stable
• How to Reduce Inflammation in the body
• Special considerations for Athletes
• Jumpstart your HealthTM Program
17. INFLAMMATION
“Chronic inflammation lies at the root of virtually every
disease process known to modern man – from weight
gain, obesity & heart disease to autoimmune disorders
like lupus, MS and rheumatoid arthritis.”
- Dr. Chris Lydon, Yale University
Anti-inflammatory Lifestyle =
Supplementation, Exercise & Nutrition
18. WHAT ARE YOUR TOP
3 HEALTH GOALS FOR 2012?
• Long term Weight Loss
• Lose Belly Fat!
• Increase Energy
• Reduce Cravings
• Improve Fitness
• Strengthen Immune System
• Prevent/Manage Degenerative Disease
• Reduce Inflammation
• Reduce Cholesterol, Blood Pressure, Triglycerides…
19. UNDERSTANDING HOW
YOUR BRAIN & BODY
WORK
• Brain & body work off of glucose
• Carbs are NOT bad – it’s the kind & amount
• Challenge: Brain works off a Narrow Band of
Blood Sugar
20. BRAIN WANTS US TO “ROLL” IN
THIS NARROW BAND OF BLOOD
SUGAR
22. “STATE OF EMERGENCY”
• SPIKE your blood sugar, brain thinks it’s
...DROWNING
• Blood sugar too LOW, brain thinks it’s
...STARVING
BOTH states are equally harmful to brain/body….
23. WHEN BLOOD SUGAR
SPIKES
• Brain releases a very powerful hormone
• INSULIN is your storage hormone
• It does it’s job very well!
28. HIGH GLYCEMIC FOODS?
• 85 to 90% of the carbohydrates adults and
children are consuming in the US and Canada
are considered to be high-glycemic.
• Bread, rice, cereals, and potatoes actually spike
your blood sugar faster than if you were eating
table sugar.
29. WHAT ARE HIGH GLYCEMIC
FOODS?
• Sugar, Candy, Ice Cream, Cookies
• White Flour, White Rice, White Tortillas
• Most Breads & Cereals
• Potatoes
• Highly Processed Foods
• “Instant” Foods
• Fruit Juices
30. WHY IS ENERGY STORED AS
FAT?
• Muscle Cells have insulin receptor sites
• Too much insulin in blood? Capillaries spasm 6 hours
• Muscle Cells shut down receptor sites become
Insulin Insensitive
BAD NEWS….
Fat cells are like Energizer Bunnies!
31. TO ADD INSULT TO
INJURY...
Fat cells duplicate, multiply & secrete
hormones which create more fat cells, which
create more...
32. Spike Blood Sugar
• Store energy as fat ----WAIST
• “Insulin insensitivity”- difficult to lose weight
• Uncontrollable eating and cravings
• Emotional eating
• Stress hormones are released long term (puzzle
piece)
33. Blood Sugar too Low
• Overeating
• Low energy Dieting?
• Moody, Irritable
34. GOOD NEWS!
REVERSIBLE!
• Keep blood sugar rolling between “band”
• Slow - insulin
• Muscle cells start re-generating insulin
receptor sites
• Fat cells starve (receptor sites shut down)
• Type 2 diabetes is reversable
REGENERATE INSULIN RECEPTOR SITES!
35. TAKE HOME POINT
Don’t SPIKE blood sugar
or let it go too LOW
Both are equally harmful to brain/body
Adrenalin Cortisol
37. HOW DO YOU KEEP BLOOD SUGAR
STABLE THROUGHOUT THE DAY
AND REDUCE INFLAMMATION?
38. HEALTHY FOR LIFE
3 COMPONENTS
Supplementation
Exercise Nutrition
39. SUPPLEMENTATION
• All about CELL HEALTH
• All health and disease starts in the cell
• Yours cells get healthy-many lose 5-10 pounds
• Our bodies are made up of how many cells?
• Every hour cells regenerate
• How many?
• Philosophy: Get the cells healthy and then the cells
can take care of the body
40. IMPORTANCE OF
SUPPLEMENTATION
Research of Dr. Bruce Ames, professor of toxicology at UC Berkeley
has demonstrated that “a deficiency in any of the micronutrients such as
folic acid, vit B-12, B-6, niacin, C, E, iron or zinc, mimics radiation and
chemicals in damaging DNA by causing single & double strand breaks,
oxidative lesions or both”.
In fact, the damage your system will endure from a nutrient
deficiency is hundreds of times greater than any damage cause
by radiation or chemicals.
41. THE WAR WITHIN OUR BODIES
THE CELLS OF OUR BODIES ARE
FIGHTING TO STAY HEALTHY AS
THEY ARE ATTACKED BY FREE
RADICALS.
FREE RADICALS COME FROM:
• STRESS
• RADIATION FROM THE SUN
Healthy human
cells in culture
Damaged cells
after adding
Similar cells when
oxidation defense
• ENVIRONMENTAL POLLUTION
digested products mechanisms are • TOXIC CHEMICALS IN THE WATER
from a fatty meal included
• DEPLETION OF NUTRIENTS IN THE
FOOD SUPPLY
ARE WE CONTENT WITH LOSING THIS WAR AGAINST POOR HEALTH,
OR WILL WE ARM OUR CELLS WITH THE NUTRIENTS THEY NEED?
9 HEALTH & FREEDOM
42. SUPPLEMENTATION
Every Day…
Take a High Quality Pharmaceutical Grade
Multi-Vitamin
Essential Fatty Acids – 2 kinds filtered
Cell is the building block of the body…
where all health and disease originates
43. Athletes need More than
basics
• Optimal levels of Calcium and Magnesium
• Grape seed extract with C -50 times more potent
than Vit. E & 20 times more than Vit. C
• Anti inflammatory properties/ Anti Allergen
(300mg.plus)- #1
• 60 mg. pharmaceutical gel form CoQ10-#2
44. Vitamin D
• Current research
• Northern countries-Winter/Summer
• Non-athletes needs
• Athletes needs
• The sun’s role
45. Glucosamine
• Shown to increase joint fluid and actually rebuild
cartilage
• Important for any high impact athletes or
dancers
• Combines with an anti-inflammatory like Tumeric
for maximum effect-6 hours
• Chondroitin shown to not add much to
Glucosamine
46. Pharmaceutical vs. Food
• Cellular nutrition: must provide the cell with all of
the micronutrients at optimal levels thru medical
literature
• A wide array of anti-oxidents, supporting
minerals and B-cofactors
• Potency, Purity, Bio-availibilty, no banned
substances (guarantee)
47. BUT WHAT ABOUT IF YOU
EAT VERY HEALTHY?
• 1900’s versus today
• Over farming, fertilization methods(N.A.vs .Eur)
• Correct balance vs. NPK fertilizers to have
proper growth and resist disease
• Nutrition is no longer in the soil
How many Oranges????!!
48. AM I RECEIVING THE NUTRIENTS I
NEED?
More than half of all Americans consume significantly less than the
recommended intake for calcium, chromium, copper, folic acid, vitamin B6,
and vitamin E. 1 Similarly, studies show that well over 50 percent of children do
not get recommended daily allowance (RDA) levels of many nutrients.2
1. The Great American Nutrient Gap, Dr. Melvin Werbach
2. According to Dr. Zoltan P. Rona, author of Childhood Illness and the Allergy Connection
Consider what you must eat to receive an
optimal amount of 400 IU of vitamin E, one of
the most powerful oxidation defense agents for
conquering free radicals:
Food To obtain 400 IU
Spinach 33 pounds
Sunflower seeds 1.2 pounds
Wheat germ 5.2 pounds
Almonds 2.2 pounds
Safflower oil 1 quart
ARE WE USING SUPPLEMENTATION AS A SOLUTION?
10 HEALTH & FREEDOM
49. HOW DO YOU
SUPPLEMENT?
• Twice a Day-meals
• Why?
– Body comprised of ? cells
– Every hour ? cells renew
**If necessary vitamins, minerals & antioxidants
are not available, cells will SUBSTITUTE
What does this cause?
50. WHAT I GET ALL MY
CLIENTS ON AS A
MINIMUM…
• Pharmaceutical vs. Food Multi-Vitamin
– ODI vs. RDA (1930’s)
– RDA 30iu. E ODI 400iu. E
– Prevent and reverse degenerative disease process
– Drugs vs. pizza
• Pharmaceutical Essential Fatty Acids (EFA’s)
– Fish (molecularly distilled-toxin free)
– Plants (proper mix of Omega 3,6 &9) (combination best)

helping obesity well on its way to becoming the leading preventable cause of death. An analysis of several research studies has found that, in less than 10 years, 75 percent of U.S. adults will be overweight and 41 percent will be obese, helping obesity well on its way to becoming the leading preventable cause of death. According to researchers from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health Center for Human Nutrition, the nation's obesity prevalence increased from 13 percent to 32 percent between the 1960s and 2004. The so-called "meta-analysis," a review of a large number of studies, was published online recently, in advance of the 2007 issue of the journal, Epidemiologic Reviews. "Obesity is a public health crisis. If the rate of obesity and overweight continues at this pace, by 2015, 75 percent of adults and nearly 24 percent of U.S. children and adolescents will be overweight or obese," Youfa Wang, lead author of the study, said in an article on FoodNavigatorUSA.com. According to the review, which included a review of 20 journal papers, reports and online data, the prevalence of obesity and overweight has increased at an average rate of 0.3 to 0.8 percentage points across different socio-demographic groups over the past three decades. Some minority and low socio-economic status groups are disproportionately affected by obesity, said the researchers. They included non-Hispanic black women and children, Mexican-American women and children, low socioeconomic status black men and white women and children, Native Americans and Pacific Islanders. The meta-analysis found that 66 percent of adults were overweight or obese in 2003-2004. Some 16 percent of children and adolescents were overweight and 34 percent were at risk of becoming overweight in 2003-2004.
There are 9 main degenerative diseases that cause premature death. Here are the top 5. the other 4 are obesity, alzeimers, osteoporosis and skin cancer.

Brain declares a state of emergency
What happens 1 Hour Later? Blood sugar drops
Ask question, what happens when your blood sugar drops?
brain triggers every hunger signal Every cell in body screams, “Get me food”! NOT lack of discipline
Have you ever wondered why excess energy gets stored as fat instead of muscle? Well.... They can look out into the blood stream and see that there is way too much insulin (and energy) for them to use and they start shutting down their receptor sites. Fat cells are very happy to generate insulin receptor sites – guess where the fat goes?
