1. Love Me!
“If you love Me, keep My commandments.” John 14:15
“He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you
hear is not Mine but the Father’s who sent Me.” John 14:24
“You are My friends if you do whatever I command you. No longer do I call you
servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called
you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you.”
John 15:14
“But the man who loves God is known by God.” NIV 1 Cor 8:3
You show God that you love Him by doing what He says. His word is not a
restrictive law but a consuming passion. True evidence of love for Jesus is NOT
what is said, but what is LIVED.
“Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments. He
who says, ‘I know Him,’ and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the
truth is not in him. But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected
in him. By this we know that we are in Him. He who says he abides in Him ought
himself also to walk just as He walked.” 1 John 2 : 3-6
“But why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do the things which I say?
Whoever comes to Me, and hears My sayings and does them, I will show you
whom he is like: He is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the
foundation on the rock. And when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently
against that house, and could not shake it, for it was founded on the rock. But
he who heard and did nothing is like a man who built a house on the earth
without a foundation, against which the stream beat vehemently; and
immediately it fell. And the ruin of that house was great.” Luke 6:46-49
“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven.
Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your
name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’
And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who
practice lawlessness!’ Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does
them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock” Matt 7:21-24
“ These people draw near to Me with their mouth, And honor Me with their lips,
But their heart is far from Me. And in vain they worship Me, Teaching as doctrines
the commandments of men.” Matt 15:8-9 (Isa 29:13)
“Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead… You believe that
there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe – and tremble!” James
2:17-19
“But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if
anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his
2. natural face in a mirror; for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately
forgets what kind of man he was. But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty
and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the word, this one
will be blessed in what he does.” James 1:22-25
“Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is
born of God and knows God. He who does not love does not know God, for
God is love. In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent
His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. In this is
love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the
propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one
another. No one has seen God at any time. If we love one another, God abides
in us, and His love has been perfected in us. By this we know that we abide in
Him, and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit… Love has been
perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgment;
because as He is, so are we in this world. There is no fear in love; but perfect
love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not
been made perfect in love. We love Him because He first loved us. If someone
says, ‘I love God,’ and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his
brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen? And
this commandment we have from Him: that he who loves God must love his
brother also. Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and
everyone who loves Him who begot also loves him who is begotten of Him. By
this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and keep His
commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome. ” 1 John 4:7-5:3
We should not love Him because of His hand but His heart. Obeying Him
because we do not want to be separated from Him because of disobedience. It
wont be restrictive law but consuming passion for Him. Only then would we be
able to be ambassadors of Him, presenting Him to the world as He truly is. Being
a vessel for His light to shine to the world.
GOD IS LOVE
“Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love
(GOD), I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. And though I
have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and
though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love
(GOD), I am nothing. And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and
though I give my body to be burned, but have not love (GOD), it profits me
nothing. Love (GOD) suffers long and is kind; love (GOD) does not envy; love
(GOD) does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not
seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but
rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures
all things. Love (GOD) never fails.” 1 Cor 13:1-8
“If you have ANY encouragement from being united with Christ, if ANY comfort
from His love, if ANY fellowship with His Spirit, if ANY tenderness and compassion,
THEN make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being
one in spirit and purpose.” NIV Phil 2:1-2
