The Candlelight Vigil will be held on May 26th from 6-8pm at the Marjaree Mason Center to commemorate victims of domestic violence. There will be guest speakers sharing about loved ones lost to domestic violence. Attendees can purchase candles to light in remembrance. The event aims to give victim's families support and know they are not alone. Refreshments, speakers, and a moment of silence are planned. The public is invited to attend at no cost.

NAME OF EVENT: Candlelight Vigil
OVERVIEW: A Candlelight Vigil will be held at the Marjaree Mason Center Admission’s
house in order to commemorate and remember victims of domestic violence. We will have 2
guest family speakers who, voluntarily, will speak about the life of their loved one.
GOAL(S) – To give victims’ families the opportunity to commemorate their loved ones, who
have suffered fatal consequences due to domestic violence, and to know that they are not
alone.
THEME: Everything purple will be the theme to go along with Marjaree Mason and
domestic violence victims’ colors.
DETAILED AGENDA (What is going to happen in what order):
3—5 p.m. –Stage, candle donation stand, and water station set up
5—6 p.m. –Sale of candles
6:30 –MMC’s Executive Director, Nicole Dibuduo, Linder speaks and gives
condolences to victims’ families
7–7:30 Guest Speakers
8 –Linder returns to ask attendees to light candles

WHO IS INVITED? The public is welcome to join us in order to remember domestic vilence
victims in a social setting.

WHEN: The event will be held on the last Friday of May. May 26, 2016 from 6-8 p.m.
COST (if any) TO ATTENDEES: There will be no cost for attending but candles and
bobeches will be sold at the location for a $5 donation.

Decorations: Simple decorations for our stage will be necessary. Two purple or white flower
arrangements for each side of the podium and a purple backdrop will be necessary.
Entertainment/music: No entertainment or music will be necessary. But speakers and a
podium will be necessary for speakers.
First aid (if needed): We will have one person in charge of a first aid kit that will include
band aids and antibiotic ointment for minor burns.
Lighting/sound/AV equipment: A podium, two speakers and a microphone will be
necessary.
Parking: Free or meter parking will be available along M and Calavera St.
Photography/Video: Mobile Devices for social media usage only.
Refreshments: Complementary water will be provided.
Restrooms: Restrooms are located at the main entrance of MMC’s Administration office.
Room set-up/Seating/Stage: Stage will be set up on the left side of MMC’s administration
building facing M street.
Security (if needed): N/A
Signage: An MMC Sign will be hung on the stage’s backdrop.
Social Media Posting Plan: 2 weeks prior to the event the digital flyer will be posted at
least twice a week.
During the event one person will be designated to take photographs of speakers and
attendees with light up candles and will be posted throughout social media. Possible
captions will be drafted prior to the event.

PUBLICITY (How will you promote event?): A Media Advisory will be sent out to local
media outlets 1-2 weeks prior to the event. An event flier will be promoted as well on social
media.
EVALUATION (How will you evaluate the event?): The event will be evaluated by the
number of attendees and number of candle sales.
