This document outlines different outage scenarios and how outage messages will be displayed depending on the type and location of the outage. Global outages affect the entire site and cascade outage messages down the site hierarchy. Local outages only impact specific sections and can override global messages. Outage messages can be warning messages or full outage notices that also disable login functionality. Messages are populated via Sitecore items and displayed appropriately depending on whether the outage is global or local in scope.

note for Adam
If "full outage" is selected at the top level
and outage message entered - can a
different outage message be used on
member?
I think this functionality would cascade down
the tree until or unless it finds something
lower in the hierarchy. Just like for things
like the quicklinks. Correct Assumption?
