- 1. The Story Puzzle. How to create a story to care about.
- 2. Picking a subject… Think about something that is important to you. This will create a stronger point/feeling if the subject is important to you. Inspiration can come from anywhere! I found mine scanning through old pictures and came across one of my brother and I on our first day of school!
- 3. Piecing it together... Once you have found your subject, it helps to connect it with a event where the story can develop in order. It doesn’t matter whether that order is chronological or spatial. I began by typing it out, and emphasizing the most important parts with a lot of detail and description.
- 4. what’s the Point? The most important aspect of your story is to ultimately inspire someone to take an action, whether physically, emotionally or mentally. I wanted to emphasize the importance of working together with someone, for me that was my baby brother. I wanted them to hear my story and then also begin to value the special people in their lives, like their family.
- 5. Presentation… For this first production, it seems difficult until you know your story. If you break the work load down and do different activities to generate ideas it becomes pretty simple. In the end I just typed out my most memorable memories of my brother and I. They ended up coming together chronologically. Then, I went back and added more description and detail. NEVER UNDERESTIMATE THE POWER OF DESCRIPTION It is the description and detail that capture your audiences attention. It’s the underlying message of your story that makes them care.
