The full day itinerary includes visiting the abbey of Monte Corona, the hilltop town of Montone known for its art collection, and the impressive Benedictine Abbey of Montelabate. After crossing beautiful landscapes, the tour arrives at Monte Corona abbey, featuring a striking romanesque architecture and fascinating five-aisled crypt. Next is Montone, the birthplace of the famous Condottiere Braccio Fortebracci, with an art museum featuring wood sculptures. The final stop is the monumental abbey of Montelabate, surrounded by silence and situated in gentle Umbrian hills, which was formerly abandoned but now houses a factory producing quality products.

After crossing beautiful landscapes you will arrive at the abbey of Monte Corona,
striking example of romanesque architecture including a fascinating crypt with 5
aisles.
The Itinerary continues to Montone, hilltop town and birthplace of the famous
Condottiere Braccio Fortebracci. Possibility to visit the art collection in the Museo di
San Francesco*, including interesting wood sculptures.

Monte Corona
The imposing complex of the abbey of
Montecorona anciently hosted one of the
communities founded by the fascinating Saint
Romuald. The monumental bell tower watches over
the ancient church as a defensive tower. Inside a
splendid early medieval “ciborium”. The marvelous
crypt shows roman columns and capitals perfectly
integrated in the romanesque structure.
Montelabate
Located in the gentle Umbrian hills, the monumental
abbey of Montelabate is one of the many witnesses
of the benedictine presence in our Region. The
huge structure is surrounded by an inspiring
silence remembering centuries of prayers and
work around a splendid cloister. Even after having
been abandoned for years and passed in private
property, it still is the seat of a factory producing
quality products and keeping the surrounding
environment intact. In this way it maintains its
original function of managing the territory. By visiting
Montelabate you financially help the foundation
Istituto di Pediatria Gaslini di Genova with the
protection and assistance to infancy.
