On September 14, 2012 Mayor Lee gave a presentation on the progress that has been made on Central Market since the City renewed its focus on the area in April 2011. Milestones include: 8 tech companies leasing or purchasing 800,000 sq ft of office space representing 3,800 new jobs, 3,300 residential units under construction, 5 performance or gallery venues opening in the past year, with 4 more in the pipeline and 8 new small businesses opening in the past year.
