Video Production Guide to Freelance Hiring 2019 by Shortlist
CrystalPyramid Profile
1. 1
Good film making must have style, technique, detailed subjects and so on, as any film -
maker already knows. A competent production house cannot permit their investment
to become hostage to director’s whims and production-team frills; the global market
requirements for ‘Box-Office Return’ have to be the main focus of any commercial film
enterprise. Show-business is the bloodstream of Crystal-Pyramid Productions and our
slogan is as old as the hills: ‘The show must go on!’
The key to successful and profitable film-making we believe depends on how the
production can assure investors of an interesting ROI! Show-Business has two
components: ‘the show and the business’, which secret we at Crystal Pyramid
Productions are fully aware of. The ‘Return on Investment’ aspect of necessity must be
reflected in the professionalism of the people and production house handling the
accounts and project.
Our expertise lies in cooperative input regarding the four major phases of producing a
movie that will assure wide repeat spectator attendance that has only one goal in
sight: the ‘get those paying bums seated as often as possible’ syndrome. Translated
into realtime meaningful language means to say the essential pre-production creative
components of screen-play, related scripts, location-hunting, casting and storyboard is
a package we offer, in order to provide potential film-makers with a comprehensive
infrastructure they can subsequently budget accordingly.
The actual production and post-production phases we work with in synchronized
harmony with whichever other production houses that may be involved according to
written contractual agreements defined in duly notarized MOU documents that include
all mutual interests of the working parties and investors concerned. Depending on the
final decision and responsibility clauses inculcated into any MOU entered by Crystal -
Pyramid Productions, we reserve the right to not gurantee the ultimate result and box-
office success of any production we engage, should other interests and production
houses have the major decisionmaking powers thereof. This, however, is a legal aspect
to be determined on a case to case basis and does not compromise the performance of
Crystal-Pyramid Productions as such.

1. Storyboard and Promotional Comprehensives
Crystal-Pyramid Productions’ storyboard designs vary according to the needs and
budget of the production and actual story. We offer a special niche of commercial
illustration that entails telling the given story in numbered sequential images with
consideration for scene detail, character continuity, camera angles, special effects etc.
Composites usually vary from simple series of pencil thumbnails to extensive super
colour painting, with which to sell the project. Our graphic department is creative,
versatile and quite flexible.
The range of our scope runs from feature films, animation, music video s, multimedia
commercials, training audio-visuals to actual film promotional posters, hoardings,
meeting backdrops and such. Mostly our comps are basic single unit storyboard: with a
preliminary marker sketch of final graphic or photo for mock-up purposes. Other
designs, nevertheless, can be offered according to demand and budget agreements as
the case requires.
2. Location Hunting and Set Designing
Depending on the specific requirements of the film’s groundreality, we provide these
services through our associates and network contacts in the various geographic areas
where the location shooting is to take place. These include whatever official authorit y
licences and permits needed and the subsequent access, dates and security features
involved. Schedules, transportation, actor availability, catering, lodging and all such
are inclusive as an overall necessity.
Traffic and crowd control, whenever needed, are obviously an integral part of this
feature. SFX will be considered in the set-design and allocated accordingly. In cases
where a studio set is required, our associates will subcontract to our needs, keeping in
mind any time constraints and dimensional impositions.
3. Casting
Our casting department has a two tier accommodation. The general statistic
background individuals and crowds, location fillers, animals and montage population is
one, which also includes ‘non-dialogue non-descript’ support characters and ‘dialogue
non-descript’ characters. The second is the actual supporting role characters and lead
characters; these include the stars as well, which final choice will be determined by the
film director after ‘try-out’ sessions, if need be, or as per actor agent agreement.

This is entirely the director’s choice of shooting script schedule, where normally one
full 24 hour shooting day equals one minute of final screening time. In other words,
depending on the actual length of the ‘show-reel’ the shooting time consumed would
be proportionate to the ‘in-the-can’ results in order to avoid any serious ‘over-budget’
complications. Location and set-design teams will work independently of any current
shooting and prepare the various sets-locations for the ensuing shooting schedule,
once a current shooting is finished.
Migratory and rest periods will be inculcated into the overall schedule and a final
additional day/s period allowed for eventual ‘loose shot follow-up’ as per director’s
discretion, whenever needed. In this manner we
ensure the entire budget spent on actual scene
shooting has been put to maximum value and no
wastage has occurred. Due to the usage of digital
camera equipment as part of the overall
equipment, when such is mounted on main
cameras can save considerable editing time in the
post-production phase; the need for safety shots
and time-consuming reshooting is thus effectively
eliminated and budgets respected.

Crystal-Pyramid Productions guarantees smooth production shooting and efficient
coordination of the director’s needs, so the product delivered for post -production is
thus of the highest quality and usefulness. Laying of soundtracks, dialogue tracks,
music and recording for musical score sales is an important income generating facet of
the overall business and the various studio associates are availed with our sister
production company, MuseCineflix Productions, in order to assure investors the
ultimate ROI and publicity. Multilingual soundtracks and the inevitable sub-titular
translations, wherever needed, are inclusive options in any post -production offer.
MuseCineflix Productions, being our sister production company, is an invaluable asset
to understanding the operational realities and requirements of the vast Indian market
and therefore has great significance, when it comes to the nitty-gritty contents of the
overall production value. Furthermore, MuseCineflix has an exciting arsenal of planned
productions, some of which are currently in the ‘pipeline’ and can thus actively
participate in any new project undertaken, without delay.
We started in Mumbai several years ago while
trudging the sandy shores of Juhu Beach, rubbing
shoulders with diverse celebrities and odd vendors,
all catering to our energized vision of conquering
Bollywood! Our first film was just that: our first
film, Faraar I. Various learning processes disciplined
us into a professional production team, and, of
course, like any first-comers the finances hauled the
company over the coals of reality and sizzled us into
humble servants of the cinematic trade.
MuseCineflix has recently finished teething and can now bite! There are
several audacious projects queued on the storyboard and the next in line is
actually Faraar II, or as it has been given a shooting title:
It’s a Santosh Gupta Film with the original Story by Suraj Sanim; Synopsis
and Screenplay by Santosh Gupta and Mel Davidson; Dialogue by Jayashree;
and Scenario by Mel Davidson, Santosh Gupta and Jayashree. The project

was registered by the Film Writers’ Association; #99723 on 19.03.2004,
Mumbai, India.
The project has been formed with an intention to provide healthy
entertainment to its audience at affordable ticket rates and to promote
regional places so that the public of that region gets benefit, in view of
the fact that film shooting creates terrific scope for employment from
both the shoot and post production.
A highly gripping, dramatic 'masala thriller film', Faraar II will attract all
age groups to fetch profitable returns not only in India, but overseas as
well. In order to be well received by mass-audiences we intend to promote
on electronic channels, print media and through diverse other options,
inclusive of branded sponsorship to ensure the film will do wonders at the
box office!
Faraar II project has been designed to promote Cinema activities in MP and
UP states of India and was originally conceived-written in 2004, many
years before the Film Bandhu scheme was introduced. Any subsidy amount
from UP state, as all professional film-makers know, is given only after
the film has passed censorship by the Censor Board.
Santosh Gupta is a creation of the Mumbai Theatre Stage, his earliest

His talent has been showcased in such productions as ‘Chandanpur’ directed

Challo’ for the stage and acted in Govind Niklani’s ‘Tamas’; Ashok Vishnavi’s
‘Manzil Apni Apni’; Sanjay Khan’s ‘The Sword of Tipu
Sultan’; Avjar Bhagal’s ‘Aaj Kie Aurat’; and Ravindra
Peepat’s ‘Lal Dupatta Mal Ka’ etc. Not satisfied with
merely acting, Santosh Gupta expanded his abilities into
dialogue writing and even was 1st
Assistant Director on
the feature ‘Su-Raj’ by Tanvir Ahmed. His first
produced and directed film was ‘Faraar I’ where he wrote lyrics, dialogues
and co-produced.
Mel Davidson has contributed under the wings of Santosh
Gupta to the brogue sounds of Mumbai’s Bollywood chorus.
His own filmography started with the acquisition of an
ancient 8mm camera as a childhood gift, but mainly
sprouted from High School Theatre groups, local Operatic

Productions have the skill and know-how to
make bankable movies that cater to a global
audience: finance for the shoot and post-
production of their current project have
already been arranged, keeping in mind that
medium budget-rich content films do better
at box offices than big budget star studded
films.
