2. WHAT IS AUTUMN
Autumn is a third seosen of the year. All
together there are four seasons:
Spring
Summer
Autumn
Winter
3. WHEN IS AUTUMN
In the United Kingdom the first day of autumn
was on 23 September 2015. On this day the
hours of daylight and hours of night are the
same.
4. AUTUMN TREES
Leaves begin to turn different colours like
red, yellow and brown.
After a while the leaves fall to the ground or
are blown off the trees in the wind. They
often make a carpet of leaves under the
trees.
5. AUTUMN BERRIES
In autumn are lots of berries. Some people
like to pick the blackberries to eat. Bright
berries are easy for birds to see. They eat
the juicy part of the berry but the seeds come
out in the bird's poo and often grow into new
plants.
6. BIRDS FLY SOUTH
Birds like swallows and swifts fly away
thousands of miles away to Africa as our
winters in the United Kingdom are too cold
for them.
There aren't many insects for them to feed
on in the cold weather of winter. They stay
away until spring.
