ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
This report is the product of appreciated contributions from a number of people. With
colossal bliss, my honorable mention to maxPro for allowing me to work as an intern and
to the following staff individuals, in particular, for their considerate assistance.
My excessively busy internship supervisor, Mr. Kuldip Malla (Head of CAD), for his
benign support and unhindered guidance during and even after my internship.
The Consultant at CAD, Mr. Asheem Basnyat, for being there when I was lost and
bemused about the tasks assigned.
Mr. Sujay N. Bhattacharya, Program Coordinator, for granting me some of his valuable
time and clearing out the questions I had in mind.
Mr. Nripendra Rana, Account Planner, for his happy spare hand that I could borrow in
need.
Mr. Achyut Singh, Front Desk Executive, for being only a phone call away to enlighten
me about tiny facts that were so significant for my project.
All the very kind employee respondents who were generous enough to fill out my boring
questionnaire that was none of their concerns. To thank them all independently would be
a delightful task, but an endeavor that would fall short of its mark even with the best
intentions.
At LACM,
My ocean of thanks to Mr. Bibhav Adhikari, Lecturer, for his benevolent backing from
the very inception of this project to the very finish off.
3
Mr. Reg Bhandari, Lecturer/Head of Student Affairs, for his incredible and responsive
suggestions.
My college supervisor, Mr. Indra Kumar Shrestha for all his constant encouragement and
affirmative criticisms.
Mr. Utsav Shrestha, IT Officer, for helping me obtain the administrative privilege to
install and use SPSS software at school.
My gratitude from the very bottom of my heart to the principal of LACM, Dr. Madan
Manandhar, and Kathmandu University for this career-enhancing opportunity.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The management internship under Kathmandu University is requisite for the completion
of the BBA program, giving the intern a colossal opportunity to acquire experience,
exercise skills attained in college, make business contacts and, in entity, maximize
learning in the real-world scenario. In due course of satisfying this internship program,
the intern joined ‘maxPro Pvt. Ltd’.
maxPro is a subsidiary organization, under ‘maxPro Group of Companies’, along with
two other associates, max L’agence and max Media. maxPro, a social marketing
organization since 2005, was initially established a decade ago as an advertising and
communication agency. In 2009, maxPro merged with REDmax, and that was the
dawning of maxPro Group of Companies. Today, maxPro primarily serves to participate
in the development of Nepal and its communities by assisting Government and Non
Government partners in implementing well designed social marketing campaigns so as to
deliver socially beneficial products and services.
Currently, there are about 25 employees under 3 distinct departments at maxPro field
office, while some 200-300 employees are scattered across 28 districts in Nepal. So far,
maxPro has been able to build a client portfolio with the names of well known institution
among its client list comprising of UNICEF Nepal, UNWFP, PSI Nepal, etc.
Nevertheless, maxPro exists to ultimately serve children as its target market and mothers
as its target audience.
During the internship tenure, the intern was occupied under the Corporate Affairs
Division (CAD) which was placed at maxPro but which operated to serve and administer
all three subsidiaries of maxPro Group of Companies. The functions of the newly set up
CAD chiefly revolved around - facilitating advices, ideas and solutions; seeking new
business opportunities; performing HR duties; and around other roles and responsibilities
of its Head. Working under this division, the intern was engaged with more than one
5
activity at a time rather than playing a core title role. In essence, all the intern’s roles and
responsibilities were concentrated on developing and facilitating the CAD in formulating
different strategies and performing different tasks that would help in providing
operational support to the department.
The intern decided to join maxPro because of the knowledge that could be obtained from
a medium-sized company. The intern was initially attracted because of the mesmerizing
opportunity to achieve general management experience at the Corporate Level. On this
account, an analysis of the CAD at maxPro Group of Companies was undertaken based
on data collected through, firstly, by observation and, secondly, by a descriptive research
via means of a survey questionnaire. Once data collected were appropriately analyzed
and interpreted, research findings were summarized with direct reference to the objective
of the project and certain results were drawn. First, the CAD at maxPro Group of
Companies appeared to be a genuine mirror reflection of its Head. Second, employees of
maxPro were the least satisfied with the CAD while the opposite applied to max Media.
Third, as per most employees, even though the CAD was superior at developing and
executing organizational strategies, it had neither been able to effectively communicate
changes in organizational direction to its entire staff, nor had it been able to efficiently
provide operational support to other departments in the organization and function
skillfully. Hence, the intern’s major recommendation to the top management is that an
employee - gradually more later on - be recruited under the CAD to back its so laden
Head and ascertain an uninterrupted flow in task-after-task performance. Once this is
done, it is recommended that the CAD decide on its chiefly vital sub-division, appoint
appropriate employees to that division and set that division up, before establishing
additional sub-divisions over the long term.
Conclusively, the benefit of this internship program to the intern is the achievement of
enhanced presentation, listening, writing, tactical, research, teamwork, decision-making,
interpersonal, planning and organizing skills. All together, such expedient management
and professional skills have been acquired from this internship that would surely provide
a superior and bona fide career for the intern regardless of the line of business pursued.
