2. The Reasoning
As a brand manager and film producer for Haitians, it’s important that I can
combine the creative and nostalgic Haitian culture with the elegance and passion of
film. The “Cardo” font is a form of modern serif, which according to Evan Brown is an
exquisite, high fashion font that can be used for web design (2016). The “Raleway”
font is a serif font, which Evans labels as a timeless & respectable font (2016). The
triadic colors were chosen for three reasons. First, the red & blue choices were
necessary as they are the colors of Haiti, and Haitians are very patriotic. The second
reason is because it gives us the more diverse, creative & Caribbean color scheme
when adding the light beige. The third reason is so that it matches my personality
which is very diverse, and cannot be limited to a simple color set.
According to Cameron Chapman’s article about color schemes, the triadic is “one
of the more diverse color schemes” (2010, Jan 28). The two blue hues create a soft
contrast option so that not every color is different. The neutral, light beige helps
colors play with each other and give room to focus on the content when necessary. I
specifically chose a dark red because “…darker shades are more powerful and
elegant.” (Chapman, C., 2010, Feb 8). Black was chosen for it’s connotation to film,
and what Chapman calls ‘edgier designs, as well as in very elegant designs’
