What is a woven wrap? There seems to be a great deal of confusion
and misinformation about woven wraps floating around the
babywearing community. Most of all is a myth that there is fabric
woven “specifically for babywearing.” There are some companies that
have woven and/or weave fabric particularly for their wraps, but the
techniques are the same as those used to weave other fabrics. All
woven wrap companies choose fabric for its special properties,
whether it is woven specifically for their company or whether it is oven
commercially and selected by them.
A woven wrap is any wrap made of fabric that is WOVEN rather than
knitted. There are many types of woven fabrics. For baby wraps, the
most common weaves are plain weaves, twill weaves, and jacquard
weaves.
Woven fabrics consist of warp threads and weft threads. WARP
threads run the length of the baby wrap. The WEFT threads are woven
from rail to rail. These threads can be made from a variety of fibers,
woven densely or loosely, and can be made from yarns which are fine
or heavy.

The Breeze woven is a “plain weave.” This means the fabric is woven
in the simple “over/under” fashion that your teacher probably taught
you in grade school. The yarns are fine and strong and woven closely
but not tightly. The wrap is 100% cotton.
The fabric of the Breeze is called “bottomweight cotton gauze” in the
US and “muslin” in the UK. It is a lightweight but sturdy woven cotton
fabric.
Plain weave is the simplest of all weaving structures and generally
considered the strongest and most stable style of weaving. It does not
stretch along the length or the width, but only on the diagonal, or
“bias.” This means the fabric is supportive and easy to adjust and yet
“hugs” the curves of the adult and child in a way that is very
comfortable.
Additionally, plain-weave fabrics are less absorbent than other types of
woven fabrics, so these wraps don’t tend to hold humidity, drool, or
sweat as much as other fabrics might.
Our lightweight wraps are incredibly breathable and cool while
remaining strong and durable.

babies. She points out that as our Breeze is very lightweight, it may be difficult to learn to wrap it well if you are
starting with a heavy baby, though if you have used our Breeze from the time your baby is small, your skill will
grow with your baby.

The Breeze is loved for its lightness, affordability, and beauty. It
was originally called the “Bali Baby Breeze,” but we have shortened it
to just “Breeze” over the years. What sets it apart:
 Lightweight and cooler than most other woven wraps
 Self-storing pocket at one end makes it easy to pack away
 Lightweight fabric offer a very small knot
