3. INTRODUCTION
The gaming industry is arguably one of the
most important and innovative section in tech
today. Its importance to culture, social
networking and entertainment can not be
understated. The term “entertainment
industry” is no longer reserved for Hollywood
and movie industry because gaming is now
providing one of the most immersive and awe-
inspiring forms of more than two billion
people around the globe.

 The new Role of Gaming – In the early month of
lockdown last year, there is a 200% increase in the
number of people aged over 60 searching for games
on the platforms, joining 93% of under – 18’s who
admitted to gaming regularly. While some lockdown
trends such as tik-tok ,dancing or zoom workout
classes might exclude certain of society.

The gaming industry has a striking impact on the U.S. economy – providing stable
jobs to nearly two million Americans and generating billions of dollars in tax
revenue. This research represents the first comprehensive report on the gaming
industry’s national economic impact since 2014.
The gaming industry supports a total economic impact including:
• $261.4 billion of output (business sales)
• 1.8 million jobs with $74.0 billion of labour income (wages, salaries, tips, benefits
and other labour income)
• $40.8 billion of federal, state and local taxes, including $10.7 billion of gaming
taxes.
The gaming industry directly employs 727,000 people in the U.S., with $33.3
billion of wages, salaries, tips, benefits and other labour income. This includes
559,000 jobs on-site at casinos and corporate offices, 17,000 at U.S.-based
operations of gaming manufacturers, and 151,000 at businesses providing goods
and services to casino patrons during casino trips.
Ancillary spending by casino patrons at other businesses totals $13.3 billion,
including $2.4 billion of spending at restaurants and $1.7 billion at retail stores.

6. CONCLUSION
Video games are a form of media that is often associated with
negative health consequences. However, when games are played in
moderation and with mindfulness, they are a viable source of stress
relief as well as a catalyst for mental health improvement and
development of social skills. Video games themselves are a
relatively modern form of entertainment. They are engaging and
immersive on a level different from that of traditional board games
and other forms of entertainment. The player actively contributes
to the level of satisfaction he/she attains from this medium and
thus is more invested and willing to engage in the elements of the
video game. The amount of play time is also an important factor in
the effects of gaming. Although excessive playtime can have
negative consequence, gaming in moderation can be healthy, fun,
and educational.
