CALL (computer-assisted language learning) refers to using technology to assist language learning. CALL tools are designed to help learning as part of a larger process. Materials can be authentic, locally produced, or commercial. Benefits include learner autonomy, privacy, feedback, motivation, access to information, and interactivity through repetition and non-traditional features. Limitations are limited resources, potential anti-social behavior, constrained learning content, underutilization of resources, and ineffective deployment due to challenges in CALL development, deployment, and evaluation.
